Hey Mercedes was an alternative rock band from Milwaukee, Wisconsin and Chicago, Illinois, United States, formed after the dissolution of Braid by its former members Bob Nanna, Todd Bell, and Damon Atkinson. History Early years and ''Everynight Fire Works'' (1999–2002) In June 1999, Braid announced they would be breaking up, and played their last shows that August. While guitarist Chris Broach remained active in music focusing his attention on the Firebird Band, Braid's remaining former members spent some time at home. Toward the end of 1999, those members reconvened and formed Hey Mercedes: Bob Nanna, Damon Atkinson, and Todd Bell returned as lead vocalist, drummer, and bassist, respectively. Matt Lunsford is the founder and co-owner of Polyvinyl Record Co., an American independent record label headquartered in Champaign-Urbana, Illinois. Early years In 1994, while attending high school in Danville, Illinois, Lunsford and his then-girlfriend (now wife) Darcie published a fanzine called ''Polyvinyl Press''. After releasing a pair of 7"s and ''Direction,'' a 20-track compilation album documenting the Midwestern D.I.Y. scene, ''Polyvinyl Press'' officially transitioned into Polyvinyl Record Co. in 1996. At this point, Lunsford decided to drop out of college (where he had been pursuing an engineering degree) to focus on the label full-time. Piebald is an American rock band. Piebald started as a hardcore punk band in Andover, Massachusetts, out of the same scene that produced Converge and Cave In. Originally a key Massachusetts post-hardcore band often seen touring with fellow DIY hardcore bands such as Jesuit, Reversal of Man, and Harvest during the mid to late 1990s, they later moved to the Boston suburb of Somerville and became a staple of the Greater Boston indie rock scene. The band currently consists of Geoff Rickly (lead vocals), Tom Keeley (lead guitar, backing vocals), Steve Pedulla (rhythm guitar, backing vocals), Tim Payne (bass), and Tucker Rule (drums). Thursday released their debut album, ''Waiting'', in late 1999 with original guitarist Bill Henderson, who left the band in 2000 and was replaced by Steve Pedulla. ''Everynight Fire Works'' is the debut studio album by American rock band Hey Mercedes. Following the demise of Braid, most of the members formed Hey Mercedes, with guitarist Mark Dawursk joining in early 2000. The band released a self-titled EP through Polyvinyl Record Co., before signing to Vagrant Records at the end of the year. They recorded their debut with Burning Airlines member J. Robbins at Pachyderm Studios in Cannon Falls, Minnesota in April 2001. ''Everynight Fire Works'' is an alternative rock, emo, indie rock and pop punk record that drew comparisons to Burning Airlines, Jets to Brazil, and Shudder to Think. ''Frame & Canvas'' is the third studio album by American rock band Braid. It was released on April 7, 1998, through Polyvinyl Record Co. After the release of the band's second studio album, '' The Age of Octeen'' (1996), drummer Damon Atkinson replaced Roy Ewing due to him being unable to commit to touring. Recording sessions took place at Inner Ear Studios in December 1997, with J. Robbins helping with production during the sessions. The album is an emo and post-hardcore release, for which the lyrics were co-written by vocalist/guitarists Chris Broach and Bob Nanna, or solely wrote by Nanna. Preceded by a European tour with the Get Up Kids, ''Frame & Canvas'' was promoted by Braid with tours across the United States, Canada, Europe and Japan with Compound Red, Discount, and Burning Airlines. Burning Airlines was an American rock band from Washington, D.C. J. Robbins and Bill Barbot of Jawbox formed the band with Peter Moffett (formerly of Government Issue) in 1997. The band released two full-length albums, a self-titled 7", and split releases with At the Drive-In and Braid. The band's name is taken from a Brian Eno song, "Burning Airlines Give You So Much More" from his 1974 album ''Taking Tiger Mountain (By Strategy)''. History Robbins and Barbot had jammed with Moffett while their band Jawbox was still active, briefly considering him to fill in after drummer Zach Barocas' departure. Hot Rod Circuit (HRC) is an American emo band from Auburn, Alabama, established in 1997. History Early years The band was originally known as ''Antidote'' under which they released the album ''Mr. Glenboski'', which won the group the award of ''Best Unsigned Band of 1998'' by Musician Magazine. The band subsequently moved to Connecticut and released ''If I Knew Now What I Knew Then'' under their present moniker. Hot Rod Circuit's first record, "If I Knew Now What I Knew Then" was released on September 21, 1999. The Anniversary is an American band formed in Lawrence, Kansas, in 1997 by Josh Berwanger, James David, Christian Jankowski, Adrianne Verhoeven and Justin Roelofs. Vagrant Records is an American record label based in California. It was founded in 1995 by Rich Egan and Jon Cohen.
