Malden, Netherlands
Malden is a town in the Dutch municipality of Heumen, Gelderland. Malden is situated straight to the south of the City of Nijmegen. Malden is also home to the town hall of Heumen. Malden's football club is called SV Juliana '31. History The village was first mentioned in 1247 as de Maldene, and means people's meeting / court of justice. Overasselt
Overasselt is a village in the Dutch province of Gelderland. It is located in the municipality of Heumen. History The village was first mentioned in the 13th century as Asle, and means "upper open forest with ash (''Fraxinus excelsior'') trees". Over (upper) has been added to distinguish between Nederasselt. Overasselt developed in the Early Middle Ages on a ridge. The village used to be concentrated around the former Dutch Reformed church. The former Dutch Reformed church was built in 1710 using material from its 15th century predecessor. The Catholic St. Antonius Abt Church was built 1891. Near the village are the ruins of St. Walrick, a 15th century Benedictine priory which used to belong to the Abbey of Saint-Valery-sur-Somme, France. Overasselt was home to 146 people in 1840. Mook en Middelaar (; li, Mook en Middelar) is a municipality in the upper southeastern part of the Netherlands, at the northern tip of the province of Limburg and is a part of Stadsregio Arnhem Nijmegen. The municipality is located about 100 km from provincial capital Maastricht and has an area of of which is water. Bram Nuytinck (born 4 May 1990) is a Dutch professional footballer who plays as a centre-back for club Sampdoria. Club career Early career Born in Heumen, Gelderland, Nuytinck started playing football as an 8-year old for amateur club Juliana '31. In 2001, he was picked up by NEC, and joined their youth teams. NEC In spring 2009, Nuytinck became a part of the first team of NEC, where Mario Been was head coach. He signed a two-year contract with the club. Nederasselt
Nederasselt is a village in the municipality of Heumen in the province of Gelderland, the Netherlands. History The village was first mentioned in 1301 as Nederassel, and means "lower open forest with ash (''Fraxinus excelsior'') trees". Neder (lower) has been added to distinguish between Overasselt. Nederasselt separated from Overasselt in the 12th century and developed on a ridge. The Dutch Reformed church is a small square church built in 1804. In 1930, a consistory and tower were added. The Catholic St Antony Abt is a Gothic Revival basilica-like church which was constructed between 1890 and 1891. Nederasselt was home to 134 people in 1840. Land van Cuijk is a municipality in the province of North Brabant, Netherlands, formed from the merger of Boxmeer, Cuijk, Sint Anthonis, Mill en Sint Hubert and Grave. Frans Thijssen
Frans Thijssen (born 23 January 1952) is a Dutch former footballer. He started his professional career in 1970 with NEC Nijmegen. In 1973, he moved to FC Twente, where the midfielder played for nearly six seasons. Thijssen won fourteen caps for Holland between 1975 and 1981. In 1979, he moved to England to sign for Ipswich Town joining former FC Twente teammate Arnold Mühren. In 1981 he was the first Dutchman to be voted English Footballer of the Year as he helped Ipswich Town win the UEFA Cup, scoring one goal in each of the two legs of the final. He played a big part in their run to the semi finals of the FA Cup, and they also finished second in the league that season. Gelderland (), also known as Guelders () in English, is a province of the Netherlands, occupying the centre-east of the country.
