Hertford North Railway Station
Hertford North railway station is one of two stations serving the town of Hertford in Hertfordshire, England, the other being Hertford East railway station. Location Hertford North is about ten minutes walk from the town centre in North Road and opened on 2 June 1924, replacing the similarly named station (known until 1923 as ) on the branch from . It is down the line from on the Hertford Loop Line which provides a diversion from the East Coast Main Line from Alexandra Palace to Langley Junction just south of Stevenage. Stations on the line include Stevenage, Watton-at-Stone, Bayford and Cuffley. Trains on this line are run by Great Northern. It has one terminal and two through platforms and features a lift (to platforms 2 and 3), a small shop, two ticket booths and ticket barriers. Cuffley Railway Station
Cuffley railway station serves the village of Cuffley in the Welwyn Hatfield district of Hertfordshire. It also serves other nearby settlements, namely Goffs Oak, Northaw and the west of Cheshunt. It is down the line from on the Hertford Loop Line. The station opened in 1910 on the Hertford Loop Line between Enfield Chase and Hertford North as ''Cuffley and Goff's Oak'', with the suffix being dropped some time later. The opening of the station allowed Cuffley to expand as an attractive commuter village with regular services to London King's Cross, and Broad Street (replaced by Northern City Line trains to Moorgate in 1976). Watton-at-Stone railway station serves the village of Watton-at-Stone in Hertfordshire, England. It is down the line from on the Hertford Loop Line between Hertford North and Stevenage and is served by trains operated by Great Northern. History According to the Watton-at-Stone Parish Council, a proposal for a rail route between London and Stevenage was approved by Parliament in 1898, though construction did not begin until 1906. A single-track section through Watton-at-Stone opened on 4 March 1918, with the track later being dualled. The station saw its first passenger train run through on 6 February 1920, but did so only when a train was diverted from the East Coast Main Line as the result of an accident. Hertford ( ) is the county town of Hertfordshire, England, and is also a civil parish in the East Hertfordshire district of the county. The parish had a population of 26,783 at the 2011 census.
