Hersheypark Arena (originally Hershey Sports Arena) is a multi-purpose indoor arena located in Hershey, Pennsylvania, managed by Hershey Entertainment & Resorts Company. History When built in 1936 as the Hershey Sports Arena, the building was the largest monolithic structure in the United States in which not a single seat suffered from an obstructed view. Indoor soccer or arena soccer (known internationally as indoor football, fast football, or showball) is five-a-side version of minifootball, derived from association football and adapted to be played in walled hardcourt indoor arena. The 1988–89 American Indoor Soccer Association season was the fifth season for the league. In the offseason, the league announced new scoring rules with goals being worth either 1, 2, or 3 points based on distance and/or game situation. Before the season, teams were added in Chicago and Hershey. During the season, the league took control of the Memphis Storm team on December 18 because the ownership had financial issues. The 1989–90 American Indoor Soccer Association season was the sixth season for the league. Before the season, Atlanta was added, Ft. Wayne changed their name to Indiana, and Memphis changed their nickname to the Rogues. After the season, Indiana moved to Albany, New York. Because of mounting debt, on June 23, 1990, the AISA expelled Memphis from the league and repudiated its line of credit. After the season, the league also changed its name to the National Professional Soccer League.
