Heritage Station (Calgary)
Heritage Station is a CTrain light rail station in Haysboro, Calgary, Alberta as part of the original South Line (Route 201) which opened on May 25, 1981. The station, with a large 557 space park-and-ride lot, is located on the exclusive LRT right of way (adjacent to CPR right-of-way), 7.9 km south of the City Hall Interlocking, west of Macleod Trail. The station consists of a center-loading platform with mezzanine access on the north end and an at-grade access at the south end. As part of Calgary Transit's plans to operate four-car trains by the end of 2014, all three-car stations were extended. Construction at Heritage Station to extend the platform to the South started on July 16, 2012, and the new extended platform and ramp access opened on December 10, 2012. CTrain (previously branded C-Train) is a light rail rapid transit system in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. Most of the network functions as a light metro, though in the free-fare zone that runs through the downtown core the Red and Blue lines operate like a urban tramway (this transition occurs due to the density of stations in the free-fare zone, and is possible due to the design of the rail vehicles and their ability to operate on both segregated and road-integrated tracks). Haysboro is a residential neighbourhood in the southwest quadrant of Calgary, Alberta. It is bounded by Heritage Drive to the north, Macleod Trail to the east, 98th Avenue (an alley north of Southland Drive) to the south and 14 Street W and the Glenmore Reservoir to the west. It is bisected by Elbow Drive. The land comprising Haysboro was annexed by the City of Calgary in 1956 and the community was established in 1958. The land comprising the neighbourhood was originally a dairy farm owned by future Calgary Mayor, Member of Parliament and Senator Harry Hays, who would sell the land in 1959 to developers in part to fund his campaign for mayor. Macleod Trail (Calgary)
Macleod Trail is a major road in Calgary, Alberta. It is a six- to eight-lane principal arterial road extending from downtown Calgary to the south of the city, where it merges into Highway 2. South of Anderson Road, Macleod Trail is an expressway and is slated to be upgraded to a freeway in the future. It is named for its destination to the south, Fort Macleod. Marlborough Station is a CTrain light rail station in Calgary, Alberta. It serves the Northeast Line (Route 202) and opened on April 27, 1985, as part of the original northeast line. The station is located in the median of 36 Street NE, located near its intersection with 8 Avenue NE/Marlborough Drive NE. The station is from the City Hall Interlocking and is located near Calgary's Marlborough neighborhood and also serves nearby businesses along 36 Street NE, including Marlborough Mall. Rundle Station is a CTrain light rail station in Calgary, Alberta. It is a stop on the Northeast Line (Route 202) and opened on April 27, 1985, as part of the original line. The station is located in the median of 36 Street NE, to the north of the intersection of 20 Avenue NE/Rundlehorn Drive, right in front of Sunridge Mall. The station is 8.4 km from the City Hall Interlocking. Pedestrian overpasses connect the station to both sides of 36 Street NE. Southland Station is a CTrain light rail station in Southwood, Calgary, Alberta. It serves the South Line (Route 201) and opened on May 25, 1981, as part of the original line. The station is located on the exclusive LRT right of way (adjacent to CPR ROW), 9.5 km south of the City Hall interlocking at Southland Drive. The station consists of a center-loading platform with mezzanine access on the North end and grade-level access at the South end. 650 spaces are available for parking at the station. In 2005, the station registered an average transit of 10,500 boardings per weekday. On July 12, 2016, a flash flood occurred at Southland Park and Ride.
