''Here at the Mayflower'' is the nineteenth studio album by Barry Manilow released in 2001. It was Manilow's first to include all original material since '' 2:00 AM Paradise Cafe'' in 1984. His next album of original songs, ''15 Minutes'', would not be released until 2011. The album concept (designed by album cover designer Dennis Purcell) is based on the Brooklyn, New York, apartment complex Manilow grew up in. There were different covers for the US and UK versions. It was also his first album with new label Concord Records. Manilow left Arista Records after a span of over 20 years there (with the exception of two years at the RCA label between 1985-1986). Two singles, "Turn the Radio Up" and "They Dance!", reached the top 30 on the ''Billboard'' Adult Contemporary chart. Barry Manilow (born Barry Alan Pincus; June 17, 1943) is an American singer and songwriter with a career that spans seven decades. His hit recordings include " Could It Be Magic", " Somewhere Down the Road", " Mandy", " I Write the Songs", " Can't Smile Without You" and "Copacabana (At the Copa)". ''15 Minutes'' is the twenty-eighth studio album by American singer-songwriter Barry Manilow. It was released on June 14, 2011, by Stiletto Entertainment Background The album was the first independent release of Manilow's career, through his Stiletto Entertainment label (distributed by Fontana/Universal Music). In interviews around the time of the release, Manilow said that his long-time friend and mentor, Clive Davis, had told him that he could not sell an album of Manilow performing any new Manilow songs now, given the string of great albums covering other artists' songs Manilow released in the 1990s and 2000s. Bruce Sussman
Bruce Howard Sussman (born July 12, 1949) is an American lyricist, and librettist. Though he has collaborated with numerous composers, he is probably best known for his work with his long-time collaborator, Barry Manilow. Together they have written over two hundred songs for numerous recording artists, films, stage musicals and television programs. Life and career Sussman was born in Jackson Heights, Queens, New York and was raised on Long Island, where he graduated from Sanford H. Calhoun High School in Merrick, New York. Marty Panzer (March 20, 1945) is an American songwriter and first song-writing partner of Barry Manilow. He is the author of over 30 songs recorded by Manilow and over a hundred songs for Disney Pictures. He also co-wrote the song " Through The Years", performed by Kenny Rogers. ''Manilow'' is the eleventh studio album by singer-songwriter Barry Manilow, released in 1985. It was his first album to miss the Top 40 and fail to earn a gold certification. Many feel it was due to the prominence of synthesizers, a departure from his renowned piano ballads. This album was one of Manilow's two albums with RCA Records.
