Her Decision
''Her Decision'' is a 1918 American silent film, silent drama film directed by Jack Conway (filmmaker), Jack Conway and starring Gloria Swanson. It is not known whether the film currently survives, and it may be a lost film. Plot As described in a film magazine, after her sister Inah (Forrest) is betrayed by a dissolute young millionaire, Phyllis Dunbar (Swanson) seeks the aid of her fiance Bobbie Warner (Foss), but is refused. In desperation she turns to Martin Rankin (Sherry), her employer, who previously had proposed to her but had been refused, with an offer of marriage if he will see her sister through her trouble. Martin finally agrees and the ceremony is performed. Martin assures his young bride that they will live together for one year as pals, and if he does not win her love in that time he will give her the freedom to marry Bobbie. Jack Conway (filmmaker)
Hugh Ryan "Jack" Conway (July 17, 1887 – October 11, 1952) was an American film director and film producer, as well as an actor of many films in the first half of the 20th century. Biography He was born as Hugh Ryan Conway, on July 17, 1887, in Graceville, Minnesota, USA. Conway started out as an actor, joining a repertory theater group straight out of high school. He then moved into films, and in 1911, became a member of D.W. Griffith's stock company, appearing primarily in Westerns. Four years later, he made his mark as a director and gained valuable experience at Universal (1916–17 and 1921–23), before moving on to MGM in 1925. Gloria May Josephine Swanson (March 27, 1899April 4, 1983) was an American actress and producer. She first achieved fame acting in dozens of silent films in the 1920s and was nominated three times for the Academy Award for Best Actress, most famously for her 1950 return in Billy Wilder's ''Sunset Boulevard'', which also earned her a Golden Globe Award. Swanson was born in Chicago and raised in a military family that moved from base to base. Her infatuation with Essanay Studios actor Francis X.
