Henry Wolf
Henry Wolf (May 23, 1925 – February 14, 2005) was an Austrian-born, American graphic designer, photographer and art director. He influenced and energized magazine design during the 1950s and 1960s with his bold layouts, elegant typography, and whimsical cover photographs while serving as art director at ''Esquire'', ''Bazaar'', and ''Show'' magazines. Wolf opened his own photography studio, Henry Wolf Productions, in 1971, while also teaching magazine design and photography classes. In 1976, he was awarded the American Institute of Graphic Arts Medal for Lifetime Achievement and, in 1980, was inducted into the New York Art Directors Club Hall of Fame. Life and work Henry Wolf was born into a Jewish family in Vienna, Austria, on May 23, 1925. With the Anschluss and Nazi occupation of Austria in 1938, his secure childhood in Vienna ended, and his family left Austria and began a three-year odyssey through France and North Africa. Henry Wolf (engraver)
Henry Wolf (1852–1916) was a French-born wood engraver who lived and worked in the United States during his most influential work period and until his death. Henry Wolf was born on August 3, 1852 in Eckwersheim, France. He lived in Strasbourg and studied under Jacques Levy and exhibited in Paris. Henry Wolf moved to New York City in 1871, where he created wood engravings of works by Gilbert Stuart, Enric Serra Auqué, Frank Weston Benson, Howard Pyle, Henry Salem Hubbell, John Singer Sargent, A. B. Frost, Jan Vermeer, Jean-Léon Gérôme, Aimé Morot and Édouard Manet. Many of his engravings were published in ''Scribner's Magazine,'', ''Harper's Monthly'', and ''Century Magazine''. In 1896 he started engraving his own artwork. He exhibited 144 wood engravings at the 1915 Panama-Pacific International Exposition in San Francisco. Henry Wolfe Gummer (born November 13, 1979) is an American musician and actor. Early life Henry Wolfe is the son of actress Meryl Streep and sculptor Don Gummer. He grew up in Los Angeles and Connecticut, with his younger sisters, actresses Grace Gummer, Mamie Gummer, and Louisa Jacobson. Wolfe attended the Hotchkiss School and graduated from Dartmouth College in 2002. Music Wolfe first made his mark as a musician as co-founder of the New York indie pop band Bravo Silva. Bravo Silva released an EP entitled 'July' in 2004 and an eponymous full length album in 2005. Following Bravo Silva's dissolution, Wolfe moved to Los Angeles and began to perform as a solo act under his current moniker. Henry Woolf, (20 January 1930 – 11 November 2021) was a British actor, theatre director, and teacher of acting, drama, and theatre who lived in Canada. He was a longtime friend and collaborator of 2005 Nobel Laureate Harold Pinter, having stimulated Pinter to write his first play, ''The Room'' (1957), in 1956. Woolf served as a faculty member at the University of Saskatchewan from 1983 to 1997 and as artistic director of Shakespeare on the Saskatchewan from 1991 until 2001.
