Henry Peterson (author)
Henry Peterson (December 7, 1818 – October 10, 1891) was an American editor, novelist, poet, and playwright. He was editor of ''The Saturday Evening Post'' for thirty years and owner of H. Peterson & Company publishing firm. He was a member of the Peterson family of publishers including his brother Robert Evans Peterson and his cousin Charles Jacobs Peterson. Early life and education He was born on December 7, 1818, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, to George and Jane (Evans) Peterson. Career He worked as a clerk in a hardware store at age fourteen, and in 1839 joined the firm of Deacon & Peterson, who became publishers of the ''Saturday Evening Post''. In 1843, Peterson became editor of the Saturday Evening Post. In 1848, he was half owner of the publication along with his brother-in-law Edmund Deacon, and the sole editor. As editor, he refused to publish the works of the female writer, E.D.E.N. Southworth, on grounds that her work was "immoral". He refused to publish ''The D ...

Henry "Ole Pete" Peterson is a heroic Tampanian folk legend from Port Tampa, Florida, in the United States. He is considered by some to be the " John Henry" of Florida, with some sources saying that stories about Peterson pre-date those about Henry. Legend Henry Peterson, known locally as "Ole Pete", was said to be either a roustabout, switchman or longshoreman employed by the Atlantic Coast Line Railroad in Port Tampa, Florida. According to the legend, Ole Pete was the strongest man in all of Florida, with the power of a black bear and agility of a panther. He was known to crack coconuts with his bare hands for the children of Port Tampa, and for 50 cents he would engage a bull in a headbutt contest. One story tells how Ole Pete was taking a break in a railcar repair shed, his head resting on the tracks. Suddenly a switch engine pushed two rail cars into the shed where Ole Pete was resting. Henry Petersen (1 October 1900 – 24 September 1949) was a Danish athlete. He competed in the pole vault at the 1920 and 1924 Olympics and won a silver medal in 1920, placing fourth in 1924. Petersen won the national pole vault title in 1920–21, 1923 and 1925–27 and improved the national record eight times from 3.69 m in 1919 to 4.03 m in 1925. He also held three national titles in the sprint relay (1919–20 and 1922) and five in team gymnastics events (between 1921 and 1927).
