Henry Frank Schroeder
Henry Frank Schroeder (December 7, 1874–January 26, 1959) was a soldier in the United States Army who received the Medal of Honor during the Philippine–American War at Carig in the Philippines. Schroeder joined the Army from Chicago in July 1896, and permanently retired with the rank of Major (rank), Major in August 1930.Official Army Register, 1931 Medal of Honor citation Rank and organization: Sergeant, Company L, 16th U.S. Infantry. Place and date: At Carig, Philippine Islands, September 14, 1900. Entered service at: Chicago, Ill. Birth: Chicago, Ill. Date of issue: March 10, 1902. Citation: With 22 men defeated 400 insurgents, killing 36 and wounding 90. After the war Schroeder died in 1959 and is buried at the Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery in Point Loma, California. The United States Army Center of Military History (CMH) is a directorate within the United States Army Training and Doctrine Command. The Institute of Heraldry remains within the Office of the Administrative Assistant to the Secretary of the Army. The center is responsible for the appropriate use of history and military records throughout the United States Army. Traditionally, this mission has meant recording the official history of the army in both peace and war, while advising the army staff on historical matters. Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery
Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery is a federal military cemetery in the city of San Diego, California. It is located on the grounds of the former Army coastal artillery station Fort Rosecrans and is administered by the United States Department of Veterans Affairs. The cemetery is located approximately west of Downtown San Diego, overlooking San Diego Bay and the city from one side, and the Pacific Ocean on the other.
