Henry Toole Clark
Henry Toole Clark (February 7, 1808 April 14, 1874) was the 36th Governor of the U.S. state of North Carolina from 1861 to 1862 during the American Civil War. Early life Henry T. Clark was born to a prominent Edgecombe County, North Carolina, planter family. His father, James West Clark, served as a US Congressman and later as a Navy Department official in the Andrew Jackson administration. The Clarks were members of that elite planter class that dominated social and political thought in eastern North Carolina. Henry Clark devoted over twenty years to the service of the Democratic Party at the local, state, and national levels, and over ten years as a state senator. Clark attended The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill where he was a member of the Dialectic Society. He graduated with honors in 1826 and later earned an A. M. in 1832. Henry Ray Clark
Henry Ray Clark (1936 – July 29, 2006) was a folk artist born in Bartlett, Texas, and moved to Houston, where he became a criminal with the street name of "The Magnificent Pretty Boy". After a series of drug-dealing convictions he was found guilty of an assault, his third strike in the Texas Three Strikes Law, which sentenced him to 25 years in Huntsville State Prison. While in prison he developed a characteristic drawing style involving detailed patterning and line work, and was discovered at a prison art show by William Steen, who sold Clark's work to national and international buyers. Clark died on July 29, 2006, the victim of a robbery and murder in his home. Life Born in 1936 in the small town of Bartlett, Texas, Clark's family moved to Houston. The Rumble Strips
The Rumble Strips are an English band from Tavistock, Devon. The 4-piece line-up of Charlie Waller, Henry Clark, Tom Gorbutt & Keith Lunnon was present from the first recordings until late 2006 when Sam Mansbridge joined to fill out the sound developed during the recording of 'Girls & Weather'. The band were signed to Fallout Records, a subsidiary of Universal Island Records. History Formation Having known each other since childhood, there is no precise conception date for the band. Lead singer Charlie Waller was involved in music from an early age, initial inspirations included Lou Reed's ''Transformer'' and bands such as Adam and the Ants. He moved to London for art college and played with his band from Devon, the Action Heroes. The Action Heroes included Matthew Wheeler, drums, Sam Mansbridge, Guitar & Harry Dwyer on keyboards. The Honduras national football team ( es, Selección de fútbol de Honduras) represents Honduras in men's international football. The team is governed by the Federación Nacional Autónoma de Fútbol de Honduras (FENAFUTH). They are nicknamed ''Los Catrachos'', ''La Bicolor,'' or ''La H''. Honduras has qualified for the World Cup three times, in 1982, 2010, and 2014, and never advanced beyond the group stage. Outside of the FIFA World Cup tournament, Honduras has competed in several other international competitions, like the CONCACAF Championship (which they won in 1981), and the Copa América (which their best result was third place in 2001). Henry Martyn Clark
Henry Martyn-Clark (Peshawar, c. 1857 - Edinburgh, April 1916) was an Afghan-born adopted British medical missionary stationed in Amritsar in the late 19th century. Biography Clark was born to Afghan parents, and was adopted after his mother's death by Elizabeth and Rev. Robert Clark in 1859. It is thought that he was named Henry Martyn after the Anglican missionary to Persia and India. Clark was educated at the University of Edinburgh (MB, CM 1881) and received his MD in 1892. In 1881 he was accepted by the Church Missionary Society to start the Amritsar Medical Mission as a Medical Missionary. He left for Amritsar to join his father on 4 February 1882. The same year he married his wife Mary Emma. In Amritsar Clark gained a reputation as a Christian debater and pamphlet writer, on Islam and Hinduism. Henry Selby Clark (September 9, 1809 – January 8, 1869) was a Congressional Representative from North Carolina; born near Leechville, North Carolina, September 9, 1809; attended the common schools, and was graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1828; studied law; was admitted to the bar and commenced practice in Washington, North Carolina; member of the State house of commons 1834–1836; solicitor for the district in 1842; elected as a Democrat to the Twenty-ninth Congress (March 4, 1845 – March 3, 1847); moved to Greenville, North Carolina, and resumed the practice of law; died in Greenville, N.C., January 8, 1869; interment at his country home near Leechville. Henry Marcus Clark (15 September 1859 - 14 March 1913) was an Australian businessman who built a retailing empire known as Marcus Clark & Co., which consisted of a chain of Marcus Clark department stores. Migration to Australia and entering business Clark was born in Liverpool, Lancashire, in 1859. He was the son of Cuthbert Anthony Clark, a silk merchant, and his wife, Charlotte Mary Clark (née Southee). He arrived in Australia from England in 1880, and lived briefly in Melbourne but soon traveled to Sydney by way of the goldfields at Parkes and Hill End. In 1882 he arrived in Sydney and was employed in John Kingsbury's drapery store in Newtown. In 1883 he married his first wife, and acquired Kingsbury's business. The business became Marcus Clark & Co. and rapidly expanded throughout New South Wales.
