''Black's Law Dictionary'' is the most frequently used legal dictionary in the United States. Henry Campbell Black (1860–1927) was the author of the first two editions of the dictionary. History The first edition was published in 1891 by West Publishing, with the full title ''A Dictionary of Law: containing definitions of the terms and phrases of American and English jurisprudence, ancient and modern, including the principal terms of international constitutional and commercial law, with a collection of legal maxims and numerous select titles from the civil law and other foreign systems''. A second edition was published in 1910 as ''A Law Dictionary''. Black died in 1927 and future editions were titled ''Black's Law Dictionary''. Ossining is a village in Westchester County, New York, United States. The population at the 2020 United States census was 27,551, an increase over 25,060 at the 2010 census. As a village, it is located in the town of Ossining. Geography Ossining borders the eastern shores of the widest part of the Hudson River, the Tappan Zee. According to the United States Census Bureau, the village has a total area of 6.3 square miles (16.4 km2), of which 3.2 square miles (8.3 km2) is land and 3.1 square miles (8.1 km2) (49.37%) is water. Demographics As of the 2010 United States Census, there were 25,060 people living in the village.
