Henry B. Cassel
Henry Burd Cassel (October 19, 1855 – April 28, 1926) was a Republican member of the U.S. House of Representatives from Pennsylvania. History Henry B. Cassel was born in Marietta, Pennsylvania, where he attended Columbia Classical Institute. Afterwards he was engaged in the wholesale and retail lumber business. Cassel was a member of the Republican County Committee in 1881, and Chairman of the County Committee in 1893. He was chosen as a delegate to the 1896 Republican National Convention. Two years later, he served as a member of the Pennsylvania State House of Representatives in 1898 and 1900. Cassel was elected as a Republican to the Fifty-seventh US Congress to fill the vacancy caused by the death of Representative Marriott Brosius. He was reelected to the Fifty-eighth, Fifty-ninth, and Sixtieth Congresses, serving as Chairman of the United States House Committee on Accounts during the Fifty-ninth Congress. Pennsylvania's 9th congressional district is located in the east central part of the state and encompasses all of Carbon County, Columbia County, Lebanon County, Montour County, and Schuylkill County, as well as parts of Berks County, Luzerne County, and Northumberland County. Much of the district includes Pennsylvania's Coal Region. Republican Dan Meuser represents the district, serving since 2019. George Howell (June 28, 1859 – November 19, 1913) was an American educator and politician who served as a Democratic member of the U.S. House of Representatives from Pennsylvania. Biography George Howell was born in Scranton, Pennsylvania. He attended the public schools, the Pennington Seminary in Pennington, New Jersey, the Newton Collegiate Institute in Newton, Pennsylvania, and Lafayette College in Easton, Pennsylvania. He graduated from the Illinois State Normal University at Normal. He taught school fourteen years in Illinois, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania, and served seven years as superintendent of the public schools of Scranton. He studied law, was admitted to the bar in 1904 and commenced practice in Scranton. Pennsylvania's 10th Congressional District
Pennsylvania's 10th congressional district is located in the south-central region of the state. It encompasses all of Dauphin County as well as parts of Cumberland County and York County. The district includes the cities of Harrisburg and York. Prior to 2019, the district was located in the northeastern part of the state. The Supreme Court of Pennsylvania redrew the district in 2018 after ruling the previous map unconstitutional due to gerrymandering. The court added State College to the old district's boundaries while removing some Democratic-leaning areas and redesignated it the twelfth district, and they reassigned the tenth district to an area around Harrisburg and York.
