Henk Savelberg
Henk Savelberg (Mechelen, 11 July 1953) is a Dutch head chef. Up until now, he is the only head chef from the Netherlands awarded a Michelin star in five different restaurants. Savelberg comes from a mining family of five children. At a young age he lost his mother, so he was mainly raised by his father and sister. He went to the hotel school in Sittard. He trained, amongst others, in Kasteel Wittem (Wittem) and hotel Terminus (Heerlen). When he was 17, he enlisted in the Netherlands Marine Corps. During an exercise in Norway he got frozen toes and as a consequence he had to leave the service. Kitchen career After leaving the Marines at age 20, he started working in the hospitality industry. His first employers were ''Bon Ton'' in Scheveningen, ''Nostaligia'' and ''La Grande Bouffe'' in The Hague, where he discovered the Nouvelle Cuisine. Mechelen, Netherlands
Mechelen (; li, Mechele ) is a town in the Dutch province of Limburg. It is a part of the municipality of Gulpen-Wittem, and lies about 13 km south of Heerlen. History The village was first mentioned in 1133 as "de Mechluns", and means "mighty place". It was sometimes called Klein-Mechelen (little Mechelen) to distinguish from Mechelen. Mechelen developed around a large farm which was donated to the Sovereign Military Order of Malta by Henry III, Duke of Limburg. Until 1795, it was a '' heerlijkheid'' except for the commandery and a small part of the village which formed an independent enclave. The Heerenhof is the remainder of the commandery and farm. Cees Helder (born 1948 in , North Holland) is a Dutch chef, former restaurant owner of Parkheuvel in Rotterdam. He was the first chief cook in the Netherlands to acquire three Michelin stars. Helder obtained his first Michelin star when he was chief cook at Villa Rozenrust. A second star followed with Le Chevalier in Delft. In 1986, Helder purchased Parkheuvel and in November 2001 it became the first Dutch restaurant to hold three Michelin stars. Maartje Boudeling (Yerseke, 29 January 1939) is a retired head chef, known for her cooking in the Michelin starred restaurant Inter Scaldes in Kruiningen, Netherlands. Boudeling went to school at the MULO in Yerseke, before studying in Rotterdam to become a hairdresser. After finishing that course, together with her sister, she opened ''Beauté'', a hairdresser's shop. This shop went very well, but she left after marrying Kees Boudeling in 1962. After her marriage, she started working in the family restaurant from her husband, located on the Rijksweg in Kruiningen. Building on what she had learned from her mother, she took over the kitchen.
