Hendrik Erasmus Van Der Dussen
Hendrik Erasmus "Rassie" van der Dussen (born 7 February 1989) is a South African professional cricketer who represents the South Africa national cricket team and plays for Gauteng in domestic cricket. In the 2018 ''South African Cricket Annual'', he was named as one of the five Cricketers of the Year. In August 2019, van der Dussen was named the International Men's Newcomer of the Year at Cricket South Africa's annual award ceremony. Later the same month, Cricket South Africa awarded him with a central contract for the 2019–20 season. Domestic career In August 2017, van der Dussen was named in Cape Town Knight Riders' squad for the first season of the T20 Global League. However, in October 2017, Cricket South Africa initially postponed the tournament until November 2018, with it being cancelled soon after. van der Dussen was the leading run-scorer during the 2017–18 Sunfoil Series, with 959 runs in ten matches. First-class cricket, along with List A cricket and Twenty20 cricket, is one of the highest-standard forms of cricket. A first-class match is one of three or more days' scheduled duration between two sides of eleven players each and is officially adjudged to be worthy of the status by virtue of the standard of the competing teams. Matches must allow for the teams to play two innings each, although in practice a team might play only one innings or none at all. The etymology of "first-class cricket" is unknown, but it was used loosely before it acquired official status in 1895, following a meeting of leading English clubs. The Mzansi Super League (MSL) was a Twenty20 cricket (T20) franchise league held in South Africa. The competition was established in 2018 by Cricket South Africa (CSA) as a replacement for the failed T20 Global League, but only two editions were played before the competition was itself cancelled in favour of the SA20 competition from 2022/23. The first edition of the tournament took place in November and December 2018. The South African Broadcasting Corporation broadcast all matches domestically on free-to-air channels. The league consisted of six franchise teams representing different South African cities. Two editions were played under this format before changes were proposed to reflect the wide structural changes that were announced for South African domestic cricket in 2021, but the competition did not run in 2020 or 2021 due to the COVID 19 pandemic and was then cancelled. 2018 Mzansi Super League
The 2018 Mzansi Super League was the inaugural edition of the Mzansi Super League (MSL) Twenty20 (T20) franchise cricket tournament in South Africa. It started on 16 November and finished on 16 December 2018. Six teams played a total of thirty-two matches. The players' draft took place on 17 October 2018, with more than 200 international players expressing their interest to take part. On 18 October 2018, it was announced that Global Sports Commerce (GSC) is the official international commercial and broadcast partner from 2018 up to 2022. Global T20 Canada
The Global T20 Canada is a 20-over cricket tournament played in Canada. The first edition of the tournament took place during June and July 2018 with six teams competing. Each team featured four local Canadian cricketers in each squad, along with international players. The inaugural tournament in 2018 took place at the Maple Leaf Cricket Club in King City, Ontario, while the 2019 tournament took place at the CAA Centre in Brampton, Ontario. 2018–19 CSA T20 Challenge
The 2018–19 CSA T20 Challenge was the sixteenth season of the CSA T20 Challenge, established by Cricket South Africa. It took place from 5 April to 5 May 2019. Titans were the defending champions. 2017–18 Sunfoil Series
The 2017–18 Sunfoil Series was a first-class cricket competition that took place in South Africa from 19 September 2017 to 25 March 2018. Knights were the defending champions. There was a planned break in the competition between October and February for the first season of the T20 Global League (TGL). However, the TGL was postponed to November 2018, with South Africa's domestic T20 competition moved back from March 2018 to November 2017 to replace it. After the first four rounds of fixtures, all twelve matches had ended in draws. The first win of the tournament came in the fifth round, when Titans beat Lions by nine wickets. By the end of the mid-season break in October 2017, fourteen of the fifteen matches had ended as a draw.
