Hemanta Bahadur B.C. is a Nepalese politician and the chairman of the Communist Party of Nepal (United Marxist). He was a leading member of the Communist Party of Nepal (United) (1991–2005), Communist Party of Nepal (United), prior to the merger of that party into the Communist Party of Nepal (United Marxist). The Communist Party of Nepal (United Marxist) was a political party in Nepal existing from 2005 until 2013. History The party was formed on 15 September 2005 through the merger of Communist Party of Nepal (United) and Communist Party of Nepal (Marxist). The party was a member of the United Left Front during the 2006 Nepalese revolution. Bishnu Bahadur Manandhar, general secretary of CPN (United), was the general secretary of the party but later stepped down, and Prabhu Narayan Chaudhari, president of the CPN (Marxist), was the president of the party. The founding unification conference also elected a 34-member Central Committee and an 82-member National Council. The trade union wing of CPN (UM) was Nepal Progressive Trade Union Federation (NPTUF) and the students wing of the party was the Nepal Progressive Student Federation (NPSF). Communist Party of Nepal (United) was a political party in Nepal. In 1991, after the first general election, through the merger of Communist Party of Nepal (Democratic), Communist Party of Nepal (Burma) and Communist Party of Nepal (Amatya). Both the Burma and Amatya-led factions did however break away from the party soon after the merger. The youth wing of the party was called Nepal National Youth Federation. Its trade union wing was called Nepal Trade Union Federation. History The general secretary of CPN (United) was Bishnu Bahadur Manandhar and the deputy general secretary Ganesh Shah. Following the February 1, 2005 royal take-over in Nepal, both Manandhar and Shah were arrested. In 2005 the party merged with the Communist Party of Nepal (Marxist) and formed the Communist Party of Nepal (United Marxist). United Left Front ( ne, संयुक्त बाम मोर्चा), a joint front of Nepalese communist parties. ULF was founded on October 3, 2002, with the aim of mobilizing against the autocratic rule in the country. The founding constituents of ULF were: * Communist Party of Nepal (Marxist) * Communist Party of Nepal (Marxist-Leninist) * Communist Party of Nepal (Marxist-Leninist-Maoist) * Nepal Samyabadi Party (Marksbadi-Leninbadi-Maobadi) * Communist Party of Nepal (United) CPN(MLM) and NSP(Malema) later merged to form the Communist Party of Nepal (Marxist-Leninist-Maoist Centre).
