Hellenurme
Hellenurme (german: Hellenorm) is a village in Valga County in southeastern Estonia. (retrieved 28 July 2021) It is located about south of the town of Elva and about northwest of the town of Otepää. Hellenurme was the administrative centre of Palupera Parish. The village has a population of 170 (as of 1 January 2011). Hellenurme Manor Hellenurme estate (german: Hellenorm) was first mentioned in 1641, when it belonged to the Wrangells. After the Great Northern War the owners were the Dückers and Bruiningks, from 1850 till dispossession in 1919 it belonged to the Middendorffs. The one-storey main building was built out of stone in the end of the 18th century and was changed in the 19th century. Nowadays a nursery and a kindergarten operate there. About a kilometre from the manor's centre is a Classicist chapel and family graveyard of the Middendorffs. The world-famous zoologist and explorer Alexander von Middendorff who lived in the manor from 1842 to 1845 is buried there. ... Valga County ( et, Valga maakond or ''Valgamaa'') is a first-level administrative unit and one of 15 counties of Estonia. It comprises the former area of Valga District. The present-day county was created on 1 January 1990. The capital and largest town of Valga County is Valga, followed by Tõrva and Otepää. Alexander Theodor von Middendorff (russian: Алекса́ндр Фёдорович Ми́ддендорф; tr. ; 18 August 1815 – 24 January 1894) was a zoologist and explorer of Baltic German and Estonian extraction. He is known for his expedition 1843–45 to the extreme north and east of Siberia, describing the effects of permafrost on the spread of animals and plants. Early life Middendorff's mother Sophia Johanson (1782–1868), the daughter of an Estonian farmer, had been sent to Saint Petersburg for education by her parents. There she met with the future director of the St. Petersburg Pedagogical Institute, Theodor Johann von Middendorff (1776–1856), whose father was a Baltic German pastor in Karuse, Estonia. As the two young people came from different social ranks and were unable to marry each other, their daughter Anette (b. 1809) and son Alexander were born out of wedlock. Valga, Estonia
Valga (german: Walk) is a town in southern Estonia and the capital of Valga County and Valga Parish. Until their separation in 1920, Valga and the town of Valka in northern Latvia were one town. They are now twin-towns. The area of Valga is and that of Valka is . Their populations are respectively 12,261 and 6,164. On 21 December 2007 all border-crossing points were removed and roads and fences opened between the two countries with both countries joining the Schengen Agreement. Tartu

Jakob Hurt
Jakob Hurt ( in Himmaste – in St Petersburg) was a notable Estonian folklorist, theologian, and linguist. With respect to the last, he is perhaps best known for his dissertation on "pure" -ne stem nouns ("Die estnischen Nomina auf -ne purum", 1886). Also known as the "king of Estonian folklore", Hurt planned the publication in the 1870s of a six volume series called '' Monumenta Estoniae Antiquae''. Hurt organised around 1400 volunteer collectors via a press campaign, who visited almost every house in Livonia collecting around 124,000 pages of folklore. Due to financial difficulties, however, only two volumes of folk songs were published in 1875–76, entitled ''Vana kannel'' (Old Zither). Two more volumes were published in 1938 and 1941. Hurt also published a three volume collection called ''Setukeste laulud'' (The Setos' Songs) between 1894 and 1907. There are monuments to him at Tartu and in Põlva.
