Helen M. Meyer
Helen M. Meyer (born February 24, 1954) is an American lawyer and former judge from the state of Minnesota. She most recently served as an associate justice of the Minnesota Supreme Court. Meyer graduated from the University of Minnesota in 1976 with a degree in social work. She received a J.D. degree in 1982 from William Mitchell College of Law in Saint Paul. Before her appointment, Meyer worked as a civil trial lawyer and mediator for more than 20 years. Her civil trial practice included mediation and arbitration work. She was the owner of Meyer and Associates in St. Louis Park, since 1996. In 1987, she was a founding partner of the law firm Pritzker and Meyer in Minneapolis. Before that, she was an associate attorney with the Minneapolis law firm Schwebel, Goetz, Sieben and Hanson. Minnesota Supreme Court
The Minnesota Supreme Court is the Supreme court, highest court in the U.S. state of Minnesota. The court hears cases in the Supreme Court chamber in the Minnesota State Capitol or in the nearby Minnesota Judicial Center. History The court was first assembled as a three-judge panel in 1849 when Minnesota was still a Minnesota Territory, territory. The first members were lawyers from outside the region, appointed by President Zachary Taylor. The court system was rearranged when Minnesota became a state in 1858. Appeals from Minnesota District Courts went directly to the Minnesota Supreme Court until the Minnesota Court of Appeals, an intermediate appellate court, was created in 1983 to handle most of those cases. Jesse Ventura (born James George Janos; July 15, 1951) is an American politician, actor, and retired professional wrestler. After achieving fame in the World Wrestling Federation (WWF), he served as the 38th governor of Minnesota from 1999 to 2003. Wilhelmina Marie Wright (born January 13, 1964) is a United States district judge of the United States District Court for the District of Minnesota. She is the only jurist in Minnesota's history to be State District Court Judge, Appellate Court Judge and state Supreme Court justice. She was formerly an associate justice of the Minnesota Supreme Court, a judge of the Minnesota Court of Appeals, and a Judge of the Minnesota District Court, Second Judicial District (Ramsey County).
