Heinz Steyer Stadion
The Heinz-Steyer-Stadion, in Dresden, Germany, is an association football, American football and athletics stadium currently used by the Dresdner SC and the Dresden Monarchs. It has a capacity of about 30,000 but is currently restricted to about 5,000 for football matches (although it had attendances of more than 50,000 people in the 1930s). It was also the first stadium of Dynamo Dresden. It was the venue for Dynamo's first Inter-Cities Fairs Cup match, against Rangers. Günter Schröter (May 3, 1927 – February 10, 2016), often nicknamed Moppel, was a German association football, football player and coach who appeared in 39 matches for East Germany national football team, East Germany. Career Early years He began playing football at young age. He played his first football matches for the youth teams of Brandenburger SC Süd 05, Brandenburger BC. Schröter was drafted into the Wehrmacht before his 17th birthday. He was sent to participate in World War II as part the last contingent supposed to defend Germany. Schröter was captured by Allied forces in 1945 and sent to work in an underground Polish coal mine. Playing career Schröter was released from captivity in 1948. He then returned to football.
