Heino Torga
Heino Torga (18 March 1933 Narva – 9 September 2012 Tallinn) was an Estonian theatre director and actor. In 1955 he graduated from Estonian Drama Theatre's learning studio, and 1967 Leningrad State Institute of Theatre, Music and Cinema. From 1958 until 1962, he was an actor, from 1967 until 1970, a director and from 1970 until 1979, the principal stage manager-chief of Ugala Theatre in Viljandi. From 1981 until 1986, he worked at Tallinna Linnahall. From 1986 until 1993, he was an actor at Vanalinnastuudio Vanalinnastuudio (literally 'Old Town Studio') was a theatre in Tallinn, Estonia. The theatre was established in 1980. At the beginning, it operated at Estonian State Philharmony (nowadays Eesti Kontsert). The founder and artistical leader was .... Narva
Narva, russian: Нарва is a municipality and city in Estonia. It is located in Ida-Viru County, Ida-Viru county, at the Extreme points of Estonia, eastern extreme point of Estonia, on the west bank of the Narva (river), Narva river which forms the Estonia–Russia border, Estonia–Russia international border. With 54,409 inhabitants (as of 2020) Narva is Estonia's third largest city after capital Tallinn and Tartu. In 1944, Narva was nearly completely destroyed during the battles of World War II. During the period of Soviet occupation of Estonia, Soviet occupation (1944–1991), the city’s original native inhabitants were not permitted to return after the war, and immigrant workers from Russia and other parts of the Soviet Union, former USSR were brought in to populate the city. Tulivesi
''Firewater'' ( et, Tulivesi) is Hardi Volmer's history-based thriller released in 1994. ''Tulivesi'' is based on the historical situation in Estonia at the end of 1920s and sets a precedent of the struggle between the Estonian government and the spirit-smugglers. This film is dedicated to those who carry on the difficult and hopeless struggle against the narcotic business. Plot At the end of the 1920s the Finnish government proclaimed dry law which lasted 12 years. Estonian bootleggers living on the neighboring coast of the Gulf of Finland profited from prohibition which staggered Finnish economy. In the fishermen's fictional village called Ropsi accedes a new honest chief of the border guard station, lieutenant Aleksander Kattai (role cast by Jaan Tätte) who wants to "lay down the law and order". ''Wikmani poisid'' (lit. ''Wikman Boys'') is a 1995-year television drama serial about the Wikman Private Gymnasium students from 1937 till their mobilization in 1944. The series is based on a 1988 novel '' Wikmani poisid'' by Jaan Kross. The series were first aired in 1995 on Estonia's Eesti Televisioon. Each episode runs at approximately 30 minutes. ''Äratus'' (English: ''Awakening'') is a 1989 Estonian historical drama film directed by Jüri Sillart. Plot The film chronicles the lives of Estonian villagers during "Operation Priboi"; the 25 to 28 March 1949 Soviet mass deportation of more than 90,000 Estonians, Latvians and Lithuanians labeled as "enemies of the people" to forced settlements in inhospitable areas of the Soviet Union. Production The manuscript of the film was written by writer and playwright Rein Saluri and presented to Tallinnfilm editor Tiina Lokk in late 1986 or early 1987. Lokk liked the manuscript, but was initially dissuaded by other employees at Tallinnfilm from pursuing the project. In 1989, the editorial board at Tallinnfilm granted Lokk permission to turn the manuscript into a film. Arvo Kruusement was the first choice to direct the film, however, he disliked the material. Tallinn
Tallinn () is the most populous and capital city of Estonia. At the beginning, it operated at Estonian State Philharmony (nowadays Eesti Kontsert). The founder and artistical leader was Eino Baskin. In 1980, the theatre has 9 actors. E.g., in 2003, the theatre has 14 actors. In 1989, the theatre was disjointed from Estonian State Philharmony and become independent theatre. The theatre was closed in 2004.
