Heimito Von Doderer Prize
The Heimito von Doderer-Literaturpreis (Heimito von Doderer Literature Prize, short also: Heimito von Doderer Prize) was established in 1996 to commemorate the 100th birthday of Heimito von Doderer. It was created as a memorial to "one of the most important writers of the 20th century", and to honor a single work or life work of a contemporary writer who excels in "language of high sensitivity and originality in the tradition of Doderer. The award ceremony took place in 1996 in Vienna, in 1997 in Berlin, from 1998 the prize has been awarded in Cologne. "Narrative strong debuts" are awarded the Hauptpreis (main prize), an addition a Förderpreis (funding price) has been awarded regularly, a Sonderpreis (special award) irregularly. The Main prize was 15,000 Euros (20,000 Euros in 2006), the Förderpreis 6,000 Euros (5,000 Euros). The Heimito von Doderer Literature Prize was last awarded in 2010. Heimito Von Doderer
Franz Carl Heimito, Ritter von Doderer; known as Heimito von Doderer (5 September 1896 23 December 1966) was an Austrian writer. He was nominated for the Nobel Prize in Literature five times. Family Heimito von Doderer was born in Weidlingau, which has been part of the 14th District of Vienna since 1938, in a forester's lodge where his family stayed while his father, the architect and engineer (1854, Klosterbruck ( cs, }), Znaim 1932, Vienna) worked on the regulation of the Wien River. The lodge was not preserved, today a memorial marks the site. Wilhelm Carl Doderer also worked on the construction of the Tauern Railway, the Kiel Canal and the Wiener Stadtbahn public transport network. His brother Richard (18761955) and his father (1825, Heilbronn 1900, Vienna; ennobled in 1877) too were noted architects and industrialists. Anna Katharina Hahn
Anna Katharina Hahn is a German author. Life and works Anna Katharina Hahn was born in Ruit (Ostfildern), a small town short distance to the south-east of Stuttgart. She attended secondary school in nearby Stuttgart. Hahn won her first literary prize while still at school, coming first in a short story competition organised by the city authorities in 1988. On leaving school she enrolled at the Hamburg University where in 1995 she gained a "Magister degree" in German studies, English studies, and European Ethnology and Folklore. From 1996 to 2001 she worked as a research assistant in the German Bible Archive and in the manuscripts department of the Hamburg State and University Library. Reiner Stach (born 1951) is a German author, biographer of Franz Kafka, publisher, and publicist. Stach lives and works as a freelancer in Berlin. Early life and education Stach was born in Rochlitz, Saxony. He studied philosophy, literature, and mathematics at the Johann Wolfgang Goethe University in Frankfurt am Main. Erika Fuchs
Erika Fuchs, née Petri (7 December 1906 in Rostock – 22 April 2005 in Munich), was a German translator. She is largely known in Germany due to her translations of American Disney comics, especially Carl Barks' stories about Duckburg and its inhabitants. Many of her creations (re)entered the German language, and her followers today recognize her widely quoted translations as standing in the tradition of great German-language light poetry such as by Heinrich Heine, Wilhelm Busch, and Kurt Tucholsky. Saša Stanišić
Saša Stanišić ( sr-cyr, Саша Станишић; born 7 March 1978) is a Bosnian-German writer. He was born in Višegrad, Bosnia and Herzegovina as the son of a Bosniak mother and a Serbian father. In the spring of 1992, he fled alongside his family to Germany as a refugee of the Bosnian War. Stanišić spent the remainder of his youth in Heidelberg, where his teachers encouraged his passion for writing. After graduating from high school, he enrolled in the University of Heidelberg, graduating with degrees in Slavic studies and German as a second language. In 2006, Stanišić released his debut novel, published in English as ''How the Soldier Repairs the Gramophone''. Marica Bodrožić (born 1973) is a German writer of Croatian descent. She was born in in Cista Provo, Croatia in the former Yugoslavia. She moved to Germany as a child and currently lives in Berlin.
