Hector McIvor
Hector James McIvor, OBE (24 November 1900 – 12 May 1992) was an Australian politician. Born in Melbourne, he attended state schools before becoming a representative for an oil company. He was active in local politics as a member of Footscray City Council. In 1955, he was elected to the Australian House of Representatives as the Labor member for Gellibrand, succeeding the Labor-turned- Labor (Anti-Communist) MP Jack Mullens John Michael Mullens, (18 July 1896 – 5 September 1978) was an Australian politician. Order Of The British Empire
The Most Excellent Order of the British Empire is a British order of chivalry, rewarding contributions to the arts and sciences, work with charitable and welfare organisations, and public service outside the civil service. It was established on 4 June 1917 by King George V and comprises five classes across both civil and military divisions, the most senior two of which make the recipient either a knight if male or dame if female. There is also the related British Empire Medal, whose recipients are affiliated with, but not members of, the order. The Democratic Labour Party (DLP), formerly the Democratic Labor Party, is an Australian political party. It broke off from the Australian Labor Party (ALP) as a result of the 1955 ALP split, originally under the name Australian Labor Party (Anti-Communist), and was renamed the Democratic Labor Party in 1957. The City of Footscray was a local government area about west of Melbourne, the state capital of Victoria, Australia. The city covered an area of and existed from 1859 until 1994. Its civic centre, after which it was named, was Footscray. History Footscray was first incorporated as a municipality on 10 June 1859, and was made a borough in 1863. It became a town on 25 February 1887, and was proclaimed a city on 23 January 1891. On 6 January 1922 and 5 February 1941, Footscray annexed land previously part of the Shire of Werribee, which became the West Ward (later to be known as Kingsville Ward).
