Heather Smith-Dacey
Heather Smith (born September 21, 1972 in Sackville, New Brunswick) is a Canadian curler from Fall River, Nova Scotia. While married to Brier champion Mark Dacey, she was known as Heather Smith-Dacey. She is currently the alternate on Team Andrea Kelly. Career 1990–2000 Smith grew up in Sackville, New Brunswick. She won two provincial junior championships, in 1990 as a third for Krista Smith and in 1991 as a skip. At the 1990 Canadian Junior Curling Championships, the team finished with a 5-5 record in 5th place. However, Smith-Dacey won the 1991 Canadian Junior Curling Championships. After the round robin, the team finished third with an 8-3 record. However, the team won both the semifinal match against Alberta's Tara Brandt and then in the final against Manitoba's Jill Staub. It would be the first Women's junior title for New Brunswick. Sackville, New Brunswick
Sackville is a town in southeastern New Brunswick, Canada. It is home to Mount Allison University, a primarily undergraduate liberal arts university. Curling
Curling is a sport in which players slide stones on a sheet of ice toward a target area which is segmented into four concentric circles. It is related to bowls, boules, and shuffleboard. Two teams, each with four players, take turns sliding heavy, polished granite stones, also called ''rocks'', across the ice ''curling sheet'' toward the ''house'', a circular target marked on the ice. Each team has eight stones, with each player throwing two. The purpose is to accumulate the highest score for a ''game''; points are scored for the stones resting closest to the centre of the house at the conclusion of each ''end'', which is completed when both teams have thrown all of their stones once. Denise Cormier
Denise Nowlan (born July 28, 1971, in Fredericton as Denise Cormier) is a Canadian curler from Moncton, New Brunswick. She is a five-time New Brunswick Scotties champion. Career As a junior, Nowlan represented New Brunswick at two Canadian Junior Curling Championships and won the event in 1991. The team finished fifth at the 1991 World Junior Curling Championships. Nowlan made her first Scotties appearance in 1993 playing lead for Nancy McConnery at the 1993 Scott Tournament of Hearts. The team included Sandy Comeau and Leanne Perron as well. They finished with a 2–9 record, only beating Newfoundland and Labrador and Quebec. Nowlan would not return to the national championship until 2007 where she played third for her former teammate Sandy Comeau. Jill Staub
Jill Thurston (born December 2, 1971) is a Canadian curler. She skipped her own team out of the Granite Curling Club in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Career Juniors Thurston would represent Manitoba at the 1991 Canadian Junior Curling Championships. Her team consisting of Jennifer Jones, Kristie Moroz and Kelly MacKenzie would finish first place in round robin play, with a 10-1 finish. The team would get a bye into the final, however they would end up losing to New Brunswick's Heather Smith. 1997–2007 Thurston was a participant at the 1997 Canadian Olympic Curling Trials, which was won by Sandra Schmirler. She would make her first Scott Tournament of Hearts appearance was in 1999, playing as the alternate for Connie Laliberte. The team finished first place in round robin, with an 8-3 record.
