Heat Exchange
Heat Exchange was a Canadian rock band who had evolved out of a late 1960s, blues quartet. They had a hit in Canada in 1972 with "Can You Tell Me". Nearly five decades later they would finally have their album released. Background They started out as Cloud, a four-man blues group that Neil Chapman had founded in the late 1960s. The lineup then was Neil Chapman on guitar, Marty Morin on Drums, Gord McKinnon on keyboards and Ralph Smith on bass. They later expanded the group by inviting in Craig Carmody on sax and flute and Mike Landford on vocals. Later they had to change their name due to another band with the similar name, The Clouds who had released an album. Thinking that the names were too similar, the name chosen was Heat exchange. They were almost signed to the RCA label but Yorkville Records gave them a better offer. Subsequently, the group were signed to the label. Yorkville Records was a Canadian record label formed in 1966. The label, which itself was a subsidiary of the larger Arc Records, was founded by Arc Records president Phil Anderson originally under the name Yorktown Records. Initially, the record label almost exclusively distributed recordings by the garage rock band the Ugly Ducklings, which resulted in a string of national hits, including "Nothin'", "10:30 Train", and "She Ain't No Use to Me". When Yorktown migrated to Yorkville Records in late 1966, the company signed more musical artists, first earning a minor hit with the Stitch of Tyme's cover of "Got to Get You into My Life". Yorkville Records is considered the only record company established in Canada to dedicate its efforts specifically on material rooted in the musical genre of psychedelic rock, releasing additional records by the Quiet Jungle, the Sugar Shoppe, and Willapuss, among others. Truck (Canadian Band)
Truck was a 1970s Canadian rock group with a musical style similar to Natural Gas and Lighthouse. Signed to the Capitol label, they released two singles and an album. The outfit started out as Sound Spectrum in 1966 and by the early 1970s they had absorbed experienced musicians from groups Natural Gas and Motherlode. Their name had also been changed to Truck! The 1970s lineup was completely different to what it was when the group began. A busy live attraction, they did reasonably well with their album ''Truck'' which had an unbroken run for about a month-and-a-half in the charts. Background Beginning as Sound Spectrum, the early members were Dave Borland, Bill Caldwell, Bruce Fleming Sandy MacKay and Rob Oliver. Dave Brubeck
David Warren Brubeck (; December 6, 1920 – December 5, 2012) was an American jazz pianist and composer. Often regarded as a foremost exponent of cool jazz, Brubeck's work is characterized by unusual time signatures and superimposing contrasting rhythms, Metre (music), meters, and tonality, tonalities. Born in Concord, California, Brubeck was drafted into the US Army, but was spared from combat service when a International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement, Red Cross show he had played at became a hit.
