Heartbeat (Curtis Mayfield Album)
''Heartbeat'' is a studio album by Curtis Mayfield. Background This 1979 offering mixed disco rhythms with soul balladeering. It's the first Mayfield album he didn't produce entirely. Future Temptation Ron Tyson contributed to some of the songwriting and production. Norman Harris and Ronald Tyson also produced two songs, while Bunny Sigler produced three, and Mayfield himself produced three. He wrote and produced an additional song, "Tomorrow Night for Sure", that surfaced in 1990 on the collection ''Of All Time / Classic Collection''. Not on the original LP, "Tomorrow Night for Sure" is also available on the Japanese re-issue of ''Heartbeat'' as an additional track (1998) and on an expanded British CD re-issue of ''The Right Combination'' (1999). Keni Burke
Kenneth M. "Keni" Burke (born September 28, 1953) is an American singer, songwriter, record producer, and multi-instrumentalist who began his career with four siblings in the 1970s band the Five Stairsteps. Biography Five Stairsteps As a member of the Five Stairsteps, Burke wrote the group's first minor hit "You Waited Too Long" in 1966, but the group would see their biggest success with the million-selling song "O-o-h Child" in 1970. The group went on to sign with George Harrison's Dark Horse Records in 1975, and had their next hit with the Burke-penned "From Us to You", from their 1976 album ''2nd Resurrection''. Gilbert Askey (March 9, 1925 – April 9, 2014) was an American jazz trumpeter, composer, producer and musical director who was born in Austin, Texas, and emigrated to Australia in 1988. Personal life Askey was born in Austin, Texas, on March 9, 1925, but left at the age of 17. He completed two years of university on a medical scholarship. In 1980, he married an Australian woman whom he had first met in 1973 and the couple moved to Melbourne, Australia in 1988. Career Askey was considered to be "one of the architects of the legendary Motown sound". Berry Gordy often called Askey "The glue that kept everything together". Norman Seeff (born March 5, 1939, in Johannesburg, South Africa) is a photographer and filmmaker. Since moving to the United States in 1969, his work has been focused on the exploration of human creativity and the inner dynamics of the creative process. Early life and career Seeff graduated with honors in science and art at King Edward VII School in Johannesburg. At the age of 17, he was drafted as the youngest player in the South African national soccer league. Seeff qualified as a medical doctor in 1965. Linda Clifford (born 1944) is an American R&B, disco and house music singer who scored hits from the 1970s to the 1980s, most notably "If My Friends Could See Me Now", " Bridge over Troubled Water", " Runaway Love" and " Red Light".
