Heart Strings (Moya Brennan Album)
''Heart Strings'' is a live album by Irish singer Moya Brennan. The album was released in September 2008, but was previously available to fans throughout Brennan's Spring 2008 tour of the Netherlands. It was recorded at her concerts on 21 October 2007 in the Philharmonic Hall, Liverpool, and in November 2007 in Germany. A new version featuring "Harry's Game" was released in 2009. Versions The version of the album available during Moya Brennan's Spring 2008 tour (as opposed to worldwide release) sounds different, mainly the strings being lower in volume. The front cover of the album also varies, with the placing of "Live with the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra" at the bottom of the cover on the large-scale item. Finally, the track "Harry's Game" does not feature on the Spring 2008 tour item, and was added to the large distributed release. Philharmonic Hall, Liverpool
Liverpool Philharmonic Hall is a concert hall in Hope Street, in Liverpool, England. It is the home of the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Society and is recorded in the National Heritage List for England as a designated Grade II* listed building. It is not the original concert hall on the present site; its predecessor was destroyed by fire in 1933 and the present hall was opened in 1939. Original hall The Liverpool Philharmonic Society was founded in 1840 but initially did not have a permanent concert hall. In 1844 the Liverpool architect John Cunningham was appointed to prepare plans for a hall. "Against the Wind" is Máire Brennan's first solo single, taken from her 1992 album ''Máire''. Two covers were made available, one with a sand pattern and the title of the single, the other with a photograph by Tim Jarvis, of Máire and three dancers, superimposed on the sand pattern. A promotional video directed by the Douglas Brothers was made to accompany the single. "Theme from ''Harry's Game''" is a 1982 song by Clannad commissioned as the theme for ''Harry's Game'', a Yorkshire Television miniseries adapted from a 1975 novel set in The Troubles in Northern Ireland. It was released as a single in October 1982 and became a surprise hit, reaching number 5 in the UK Singles Chart the following month and number 2 in the Irish Singles Chart. Composition The song was written "in a couple of hours", credited to Pól and Ciarán Brennan. Gerald Seymour, author of ''Harry's Game'', originally wanted to use "Mhorag 's Na Horo Gheallaidh", a Scottish Gaelic song from Clannad's album ''Fuaim'', but Clannad felt Irish-language lyrics would be more appropriate.
