Heads We Go
''Heads We Go'' (U.S. title: ''The Charming Deceiver'') is a 1933 British comedy film directed by Monty Banks and starring Constance Cummings, Frank Lawton and Binnie Barnes. It was made at Elstree Studios (Shenley Road), Elstree Studios by British International Pictures. The film's sets were designed by Duncan Sutherland. Plot Finding herself mistaken for Hollywood star Dorothy Kay (Constance Cummings), impoverished model Betty Smith (also Cummings) poses as the actress in a cracked scheme by newspaper heir (Frank Lawton) that goes farcically awry. Cast Critical reception Allmovie dismissed the film as a "tired quota quickie"; whereas ''British Pictures'' noted a "Brisk romantic comedy of misunderstandings. Monty Banks
Montague (Monty) Banks (18 July 1897 – 7 January 1950), born Mario Bianchi, was a 20th century Italian-born American comedian, film actor, director and producer who achieved success in the UK and the United States. Career Banks was born Mario Bianchi in Cesena, Italy. In 1914, Bianchi emigrated to the United States, first trying his luck on the New York stage. By 1918, he was an actor in Hollywood with the Roscoe Arbuckle, Arbuckle Company, performing in over 35 silent short comedies by the early 1920s, and then, starring in feature-length action comedy-thrillers as ''Play Safe (1927 film), Play Safe'' (1927). Fred Duprez
Fred Duprez (September 6, 1884 – October 27, 1938) was an American actor, comedian and singer who performed in vaudeville, phonograph record and film. He made phonograph recordings in the US and the UK in the 1900s, 1910s, and 1920s. Most of the films he appeared in were British. He was also a writer, and wrote the popular stage farce ''My Wife's Family (play), My Wife's Family'', filmed three times in Britain, firstly in The Wife's Family, 1931; once in Sweden in 1932; and once in Finland, in Voi meitä! Michael Charles Gauntlet Wilding (23 July 1912 – 8 July 1979) was an English stage, television, and film actor. He is best known for a series of films he made with Anna Neagle; he also made two films with Alfred Hitchcock, ''Under Capricorn'' (1949) and ''Stage Fright'' (1950); and he guest starred on Hitchcock's TV show in 1963. He was married four times, including to Elizabeth Taylor, with whom he had two sons. Victor Rietti (29 February 1888 – 3 December 1963) was an Italian-born actor and director who became known through his work in television, especially through the many live television productions of the Italian play ''To Live in Peace'' during the 1950s. Ellen Pollock
Ellen Pollock (29 June 1902 – 29 March 1997) was a British character actress who mainly appeared on stage in London's West End. She also appeared in several films and TV productions. A devotee of Bernard Shaw, she was president of the Shaw Society from 1949. In their obituary, the ''Independent'' wrote "Pollock is believed to have played, in a career spanning 72 years, more Shavian heroines than anyone else.
