Hazelmere is a suburb of Perth, east of the Perth central business district, in the City of Swan. Bordered by Roe Highway to the east, and the Great Eastern Highway Bypass to the south, Hazelmere is at the northern edge of Perth Airport land. History Hazelmere is part of the Woodbridge land grant given to Captain James Stirling in 1829. When a Guildford auctioneer bought the land in 1883, he subdivided the property into smaller lots, and one was named Hazelmere after the English town of Haslemere near Guildford, Surrey. Formerly an extensive rural buffer between Midland and the airport it now consists of a mix of residential land at the Guildford end, rural land in the center and industrial land to the east. East Guildford Railway Station
East Guildford railway station is a Transperth railway station 14 km from Perth railway station, in Western Australia, on the Midland Line. History The station opened on 13 July 1896 as Woodbridge and served the Royal Agricultural Society's Woodbridge Showgrounds. It was renamed East Guildford on 1 April 1908. Since the change was at the request of the Guildford Municipal Council, the council was charged £35 5s 6d for the cost of changing the name on tickets and station signboards. The Upper Darling Range Railway (also known as the Upper Darling Range Branch) was a branch railway from Midland Junction railway station, Midland Junction, Western Australia, that rose up the southern side of the Helena Valley and on to the Darling Scarp via the Kalamunda Zig Zag. At the time of construction it was the only section of railway in Western Australia to have had a zig zag (railway), zig zag formation. History Completed in July 1891, the Upper Darling Range Railway line was built by the Canning Jarrah Timber Company to supply railway sleepers to Perth's growing railway system. Guildford () is a town in west Surrey, around southwest of central London. Haslemere
The town of Haslemere () and the villages of Shottermill and Grayswood are in south west Surrey, England, around south west of London. Together with the settlements of Hindhead and Beacon Hill, they comprise the civil parish of Haslemere in the Borough of Waverley. The tripoint between the counties of Surrey, Hampshire and West Sussex is at the west end of Shottermill.
