Hazaribagh Area
Hazaribagh Area is one of the operational areas of the Central Coalfields Limited located mainly in the Hazaribagh and Ramgarh districts in the state of Jharkhand, India. The projects of the Hazaribagh Area are: Parej East Open Cast, Kedla underground, Kedla opencast, Tapin opencast, Jharkhand opencast, Kedla Washery and Regional R/Workshop. The area office is at Charhi, PO Charhi 825336. Mining activity Mines and projects The Parej East project could not be started because of non-availability of environmental clearance. Kedla geological coal block lies in West Bokaro Coalfield, in the Mandu (community development block) in the Ramgarh district. It lies between Hazaribagh Plateau and the Damodar River. West Bokaro Coalfield
West Bokaro Coalfield is located mostly in Ramgarh district and partly in Hazaribagh district in the Indian state of Jharkhand. Overview In 1917, L.S.S.O’Malley described the coalfields in the upper reaches of the Damodar as follows: "Near the western boundary of Jharia field is that of Bokaro, covering" , "with an estimated content of 1,500 million tons; close by… is the Ramgarh field (40 square miles), in which, however, coal is believed to be of inferior quality. Barhi, Hazaribagh
Barhi is a census town and headquarters of a subdivision in the Barhi CD block in the Barhi subdivision of the Hazaribagh district in the state of Jharkhand, India. It stands at the crossing of NH 19 (old number NH 2)/ Grand Trunk Road and NH 20br> All major buses on the Ranchi-Patna, Ranchi-Gaya, Dhanbad-Patna and Dhanbad-Gaya routes pass through Barhi. Both Tilaiya Dam of DVC and Hazaribagh Wildlife Sanctuary are near Barhi. History Barhi was once a subdivisional town (up to 1872). Hazaribagh
Hazaribagh is a city and a municipal corporation in Hazaribagh district in the Indian state of Jharkhand. It is the divisional headquarters of North Chotanagpur division. It is considered as a health resort and is also popular for Hazaribagh Wildlife Sanctuary ( from city). It is represented in the Indian Lok Sabha by its Member of Parliament Jayant Sinha. Etymology The name of the town 'Hazaribagh' (हज़ारीबाग़) is derived from two Persian words: ''Hazar'' (هزار) meaning 'one thousand' and ''bagh'' (باغ) meaning 'garden'. Hence the meaning of Hazaribagh is 'city of a thousand gardens'. According to Sir John Houlton, however, the town takes its name from the small villages of Okni and Hazari – shown on old maps as Ocunhazry. Padma is a village in the Padma CD block in the Barhi subdivision of the Hazaribagh district in the Indian state of Jharkhand. History The Padma Palace (also referred to as Padma Fort) of Ramgarh Raj is located at Padma. The Shivgarh gate is one of its main attractions. Khapriaon
Khapriaon is a village in Katkamdag CD block in the Hazaribagh Sadar subdivision of the Hazaribagh district in the Indian state of Jharkhand. Narsingsthan Narsingsthan is a popular religious site in Khapriaon village on Hazaribagh-Barkagaon Road. It is 6 km from Hazaribagh. There is an idol of Lord Narsing, an avatar of the Hindu god Vishnu, and a Shiva lingam in the main temple. There also are other temples dedicated to Dashavatara, Suryadev, Maa Kali and Hanumanji.
