Haydn Sully
Haydn Sully (1 November 1939 – 14 December 2006) was a first-class cricketer who played for Somerset and Northamptonshire from 1959 to 1969. A left-handed tail-end batsman and a right-arm off-break bowler, Sully played for Somerset occasionally from 1959 to 1963, but was unable to win a regular place with the presence of Brian Langford, also an off-spinner, in the team. He joined Northamptonshire in 1964, and the following season, coming into the side regularly from mid-July, took 42 wickets at an average of 18 each, including 27 in just three matches. Northamptonshire finished second in the County Championship, four points behind the eventual winners, Worcestershire, the closest the team has ever come to winning the title. In 1966, Sully played the full season and took 101 wickets at 21 runs each, the only time he took 100 wickets in a season. He was awarded his county cap as the side's leading wicket-taker. Sampford Brett
Sampford Brett is a village and civil parish situated at the south-western edge of the Quantock Hills, Somerset, England, less than south of Williton, just off the A358 road to Taunton. Geography It lies in a shallow valley cut by the Sampford stream running from Aller Farm, and its main street runs east–west from the church to the crossroads at the western end. To the south and east of the village there is a good view of the Quantock Hills and it is shielded from the main road by the rising hill to the north. History The village takes the first part of its name from the ''sandy ford'' which crossed the Doniford stream between Sampford Brett and Woolston and the second part from the Brett family, who held the manor from the 12th century until they sold it to the Courtneys in 1359. Sidmouth () is a town on the English Channel in Devon, South West England, southeast of Exeter. Minor Counties
The National Counties, known as the Minor Counties before 2020, are the cricketing counties of England and Wales that do not have first-class status. The game is administered by the National Counties Cricket Association (NCCA), which comes under the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB). There are currently twenty teams in National Counties cricket: nineteen representing historic counties of England, plus the Wales National County Cricket Club. Of the 39 historic counties of England, 17 have a first-class county cricket team (the 18th first-class county is Glamorgan in Wales) and 18 participate in the National Counties championship. Devon County Cricket Club (Devon Cricket) is one of 20 minor county clubs within the domestic cricket structure of England and Wales. It represents the historic county of Devon. The team is currently a member of the National Counties Championship Western Division Two and plays in the NCCA Knockout Trophy. Devon played List A matches occasionally from 1969 until 2005 but is not classified as a List A team 'per se'. The Western Division Two of the National Counties Championship is made up of five teams with each team playing the others in three-day fixtures throughout the season. Devon also play in the 50-overs-a-side MCCA Knock Out Trophy.
