Charles Hawksley (1839–1917) was a British civil engineer.. Hawksley was born in Nottingham, England in 1839 and was the son of civil engineer Thomas Hawksley. He studied at University College London and after graduating entered into apprenticeship with his father's firm, which had been established in 1852 and specialised in water related projects.. From 1857 Hawksley was, with his father, an adviser to the Great Yarmouth Waterworks Company and in 1866 became a partner in his father's firm. Dorothy Webster Hawksley (1884–1 July 1970) was a British artist who painted portraits, figure subjects and landscapes, mainly using watercolour or tempera. Biography Hawksley was born in London and studied at St John's Wood School of Art and then at the Royal Academy Schools, winning awards at both including a silver medal and the Landseer Scholarship at the latter. She taught privately for many years after graduation and exhibited at several galleries and venues. These included the Royal Academy and the Fine Art Society in London, with the Society of Women Artists, at the Walker Art Gallery in Liverpool and at the Paris Salon where she won a silver medal in 1931. The publisher Heinemann commissioned Hawksley to design a number of dust jackets in the early 1930s. James Hawksley (born 5 February 1989) is an Australian rules footballer who played for the Brisbane Lions in Australian Football League (AFL). Hawksley played most of his junior football with Safety Bay Junior Football Club before moving to Mandurah Centrals JFC. He later played with Peel Thunder in the West Australian Football League (WAFL). Brisbane Lions Hawksley was drafted to the Brisbane Lions with the 38th selection in the 2006 AFL Draft.
