Hawkesbury Heights, New South Wales
Hawkesbury Heights is a small town in the state of New South Wales, Australia in the City of Blue Mountains. It is located between the townships of Yarramundi and Winmalee. To the south is Yellow Rock. The only road link to the suburb is Hawkesbury Road, which becomes Springwood Road to the east. Description The southern edge of the suburb is a creek flowing west-northeast and the Hawkesbury Ridge on its northern side. The suburb reaches a height of 264 metres above sea level, and the height changes abruptly to the east where the Hawkesbury-Springwood Road cuts a pass, including at the top the Hawkesbury lookout with picnic and toilet facilities. A few hundred metres along the pass is a youth hostel. In the northeast flows Shaws Creek. The southeast of the suburb contains a portion of the Yellomundee Regional Park. Division Of Macquarie
The Division of Macquarie is an Australian electoral division in the state of New South Wales. The division was created in 1900 and was one of the original 65 divisions contested at the first federal election. It is named for Lachlan Macquarie, who was Governor of New South Wales between 1810 and 1821. The division is located to the west of Sydney, and today it covers a large part of the Blue Mountains, as well as the Hawkesbury region on Sydney's western fringe. The current Member for Macquarie, since the 2016 federal election, is Susan Templeman, a member of the Australian Labor Party. Yarramundi, New South Wales
Yarramundi is a suburb of Sydney, in the state of New South Wales, Australia. Yarramundi is located 69 kilometres west of the Sydney central business district, in the local government area of the City of Hawkesbury. History The suburb is named after Yarramundi, an Indigenous Australian of the Boorooberongal clan of the Darug people. He was a ''garadyi'' or 'doctor' and was called by Europeans 'the chief of the Richmond Tribe'. This area was previously known as Kearns Retreat. Nepean Sand and Gravel Limited established a sand mine on the island at Yarramundi Falls in 1925. An aerial ropeway connected the island with railway sidings near Phillip, where the former railway to Kurrajong crossed the river. Following a flood which destroyed the ropeway, a railway was laid in 1927 from the existing sidings to the mine on the island. This railway was operated by their own locomotives. The Yellomundee Regional Park is a protected regional park that is located on the eastern escarpment of the Blue Mountains region of New South Wales in eastern Australia. The regional park is situated approximately north-west of and south-west of . The 2016 Australian census was the 17th national population census held in Australia. The census was officially conducted with effect on Tuesday, 9 August 2016. The total population of the Commonwealth of Australia was counted as – an increase of 8.8 per cent or people over the . The ABS annual report revealed that $24 million in additional expenses accrued due to the outage on the census website.
