Hawaii (The Beach Boys Song)
"Hawaii" is a song written by Brian Wilson and Mike Love for the American rock band the Beach Boys. It was recorded in July 1963 and released on their 1963 album '' Surfer Girl''. It is one of the first Beach Boy songs that Hal Blaine played on, contributing timbales, but regular drummer Dennis Wilson still played. In January 1964, it was released as a single in Australia, becoming a top-10 hit. "Hawaii" made its way into the Beach Boys repertoire almost 50 years later. Chart performance "Hawaii" was released in Australia as a single, where it was reported as number two by Cash Box, charting at that position in the surveys of the premier radio stations of both Sydney and Brisbane during the Beach Boys' tour of Australia in February 1964. The Beach Boys are an American Rock music, rock band that formed in Hawthorne, California, in 1961. Gert Palmcrantz (born 1 February 1938) is one of the most distinguished sound engineers in Sweden. He commenced his career in the late 1950s, at the gramophone studios of Europa Film. In 1976 Palmcrantz recorded Sweden's best-selling jazz record of all time, ''Jazz at the Pawnshop'', still in use as an audio reference around the world today. Surf music (or surf rock, surf pop, or surf guitar) is a Music genre, genre of rock music associated with surf culture, particularly as found in Southern California. It was especially popular from 1958 to 1964 in two major forms. The first is instrumental surf, distinguished by reverb-heavy electric guitars played to evoke the sound of crashing waves, largely pioneered by Dick Dale and the Del-Tones. Sunny Girl (song)
"Sunny Girl" is a song written by Benny Andersson, which was recorded and released as the Swedish rock group Hep Stars tenth single in March 1966. Their second original song after "No Response", it was the song which made Andersson believe in himself as a songwriter, with support from their manager Åke Gerhard. As a result, almost all singles by the Hep Stars following "Sunny Girl" are original compositions. Nonetheless, the single became a huge success in Sweden, reaching number 1 on both Kvällstoppen and ''Tio i Topp'', their first to do so since "Bald Headed Woman" in mid-1965. It was the Hep Stars only top-10 single outside of the Nordic countries, as it reached number 4 in the Netherlands in 1968. Charles Dean Britz (November 7, 1927 – August 21, 2000) was a recording engineer who worked with Jan and Dean, Brian Wilson and The Beach Boys, P.F. Sloan and The Grass Roots on numerous albums between 1962 and 1967. Biography Britz was born in 1927 to Charles and Elsie Britz in Cameron, Oklahoma. He was involved in long-range photography with the Army Air Corps fifth reconnaissance squadron from 1945 to 1947. He began his career in the recording industry in 1952, recording big bands for the Armed Forces Networks and the Salvation Army Band. In 1960, Britz went to work at Western Recorders and began engineering numerous rock n' roll records. Britz met Brian Wilson when the Beach Boys were cutting demos at Western Recorders.
