Havelock MRT station is an underground Mass Rapid Transit (Singapore), Mass Rapid Transit station on the Thomson–East Coast MRT line, Thomson–East Coast line in the Bukit Merah planning area, Singapore. Spanning Zion Road, it serves Bukit Ho Swee residential estate and the historic Tiong Bahru estate, as well as Tan Boon Liat Building and Holiday Inn. History Havelock station was first announced as part of the 22-station Thomson line on 29 August 2012. In February 2014, the Land Transport Authority (LTA) awarded Contract T221 to Gammon Construction Limited at S$210 million (US$ million). 1 Island Platform
An island platform (also center platform, centre platform) is a station layout arrangement where a single platform is positioned between two tracks within a railway station, tram stop or transitway interchange. Island platforms are popular on twin-track routes due to pragmatic and cost reasons. They are also useful within larger stations where local and express services for the same direction of travel can be provided from opposite sides of the same platform thereby simplifying transfers between the two tracks. SMRT Trains
SMRT Trains Limited is a rail operator in Singapore and a wholly owned subsidiary of SMRT Corporation. After the privatisation of the MRT operations in 1995, it was originally named Singapore MRT Limited. On 31 December 2001, it was renamed to SMRT Trains Limited, so as not to confuse with another MRT line - North East MRT Line that is under Singapore Bus Services and the bus operations merged from Trans-Island Bus Services. Bukit Ho Swee () is a subzone within the planning area of Bukit Merah, Singapore, as defined by the Urban Redevelopment Authority (URA). Tiong Bahru
Tiong Bahru is a housing estate located within the Bukit Merah Planning Area, in the Central Region of Singapore. Tiong Bahru was constructed in the 1920s by the Singapore Improvement Trust, the predecessor to the Housing Development Board and an entity of the British colonial authority providing mass public housing in Singapore and is the oldest housing estate in Singapore. The main estate consists of 30 apartment blocks with over 900 units of two to five rooms. There are also high-rise Housing and Development Board (HDB) flats and condominiums along Boon Tiong Road, Jalan Membina and Kim Tian Road which surround the main estate. Mount Pleasant MRT station is a non-operational underground Mass Rapid Transit station on the Thomson-East Coast Line in Novena, Singapore. Located within the former grounds of Old Police Academy, the station is planned to serve future housing developments in the area. First announced in August 2012 as part of the Thomson line (TSL), the station was constructed as part of TEL Phase 3 (TEL3) with the merger of the TSL and the Eastern Region line (ERL). Initially slated to open along with the rest of the TEL3 stations, it was announced in November 2021 that the station would only open when its surrounding areas are further developed, even though it has been structurally completed.
