Hasan Gafoor
Hasan Gafoor (11 December 1950 – 12 March 2012) was the Director General of Police of Maharashtra (Anti Corruption bureau). Previously he was the Director General of Police of Maharashtra and managing director of the Maharashtra Police Housing & Welfare Corporation. He was the Police Commissioner of Mumbai, but was transferred as an aftermath of the November 2008 Mumbai attacks. Prior to being the Police Commissioner, he was the Additional Director General, Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) between 15 June 2007 and 29 February 2008. Gafoor was a 1974 batch IPS officer. Hasan Gafoor was indicted in Pradhan commission report on lack of leadership during the Mumbai terror attacks. Hasan Gafoor died of a heart attack in the Breach Candy Hospital, Mumbai, on 12 March 2012. 2008 Anti-North Indian Violence In Maharashtra
The 2008 attacks on Uttar Pradeshi and Bihari migrants in Maharashtra began on 3 February 2008 after violent clashes between workers of two political parties—Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) and Samajwadi Party (SP)—at Dadar in Mumbai, capital of the Indian state of Maharashtra. The clashes took place when workers of MNS, a splinter faction formed out of the Shiv Sena (a major political party of Maharashtra), tried to attack workers of SP, the regional party based in Uttar Pradesh, who were proceeding to attend a rally organised by the United National Progressive Alliance (UNPA). D. Sivanandhan is the former Police Commissioner of Mumbai, promoted as part of the aftermath of the November 2008 Mumbai attacks. He is India's one of the most well-known and highly regarded Indian Police Service (IPS) officers. His career spanned multiple high-profile postings over 35 years and he is known for his use of strategy & intelligence to uphold the rule of law. Rahul Raj Encounter
The shooting of Rahul Raj Kundan Prasad Singh took place on 27 October 2008, aboard a BEST bus in Mumbai, India. Raj was killed in the shootout with the police after he held a bus with 12 passengers hostage in suburban Kurla. The Mumbai police alleged that he wanted to assassinate the MNS chief, Raj Thackeray. The incident sparked fierce criticism of the police and discussions nationwide, especially from the Bihar politicians. 2008 Ahmedabad Bombings
The 2008 Ahmedabad bombings were a series of 21 bomb blasts that hit Ahmedabad, India, on 26 July 2008, within a span of 70 minutes. Fifty-six people were killed and over 200 people were injured. Ahmedabad is the cultural and commercial heart of Gujarat state, and a large part of western India. The blasts were considered to be of low intensity, and were similar to the Bangalore blasts, Karnataka which occurred the day before. This bombings were done by Islamic Terrorist group Harkat-ul-Jihad al-Islami. The 2008 Mumbai attacks (also referred to as 26/11, pronounced "twenty six eleven") were a series of terrorist attacks that took place in November 2008, when 10 members of Lashkar-e-Taiba, an Islamist terrorist organisation from Pakistan, carried out 12 coordinated shooting and bombing attacks lasting four days across Mumbai.
