Harvey Sproule
F. Harvey Sproule was a Canadian hockey player, National Hockey League coach, owner, executive, and referee, as well as a curler, journalist, and race horse owner. Early years From Milton, Ontario, where he attended school, Sproule was a competitive cyclist and played amateur hockey in his hometown. Records show Sproule lived with his Uncle John Head and his wife Mary Elizabeth Sproule in Milton as young as age 8 in 1891. Sproule's uncle, John Head, had been a Milton town councillor, and a business merchant in Milton since at least 1881, selling men's and women's clothing, before getting a customs job in Toronto and moving there with the family in the mid-1890s. Peter Francis "Frank" Carroll (December 20, 1879 – June 24, 1938) was a Canadian ice hockey player and coach. During his coaching career, his teams won at the highest levels of junior, senior and professional hockey, including two Stanley Cup championships. Coaching career In 1913–14, Carroll served as assistant trainer/assistant coach, alongside his trainer/coach brother Dick, with the professional National Hockey Association's Toronto Hockey Club (, in media of the day, as both the Torontos and the Blueshirts), winning the Stanley Cup in 1914. Frank Heffernan
James Francis Heffernan (January 12, 1892 – December 21, 1938) was a Canadian hockey defenceman and coach. He played several years of senior hockey for amateur clubs before spending part of the 1919–20 season with the Toronto St. Patricks of the National Hockey League. He served as player-coach for part of the season before retiring from playing. Playing career From Peterborough, Ontario, Heffernan played junior hockey in his home town and then played at the senior level in Toronto with the Toronto Rugby and Athletic Association (TR&AA) club (1912 to 1914) and the Toronto Victorias (1914–15). 1919–20 NHL Season
The 1919–20 NHL season was the third season of the National Hockey League (NHL). A Quebec team was activated by the NHL, increasing the number of teams to four. The four teams played 24 games in a split-schedule format. The Ottawa Senators won the league championship by winning both halves of the split-season. The Senators went on to win the Stanley Cup for the first time since the Cup challenge era ended and their eighth time overall, by defeating the PCHA's Seattle Metropolitans three games to two in a best-of-five series in the Stanley Cup Finals. Cobourg ( ) is a town in the Canadian province of Ontario, located in Southern Ontario east of Toronto and east of Oshawa. It is the largest town in and seat of Northumberland County.
