Harvest Moon
The full moon is the lunar phase when the Moon appears fully illuminated from Earth's perspective. This occurs when Earth is located between the Sun and the Moon (when the ecliptic longitudes of the Sun and Moon differ by 180°). This means that the lunar hemisphere facing Earth—the near side—is completely sunlit and appears as an approximately circular disk. The full moon occurs roughly once a month. The time interval between a full moon and the next repetition of the same phase, a synodic month, averages about 29.53 days. Therefore, in those lunar calendars in which each month begins on the day of the new moon, the full moon falls on either the 14th or 15th day of the lunar month. Because a calendar month consists of a whole number of days, a month in a lunar calendar may be either 29 or 30 days long. Characteristics A full moon is often thought of as an event of a full night's duration, although its phase seen from Earth continuously waxes or wanes, and is full onl ...

Harvest Moon (album)
''Harvest Moon'' is the 19th studio album by Canadian musician Neil Young, released on November 2, 1992. Many of its backing musicians also appeared on Young's 1972 album ''Harvest''. Recordings Recovering from a case of tinnitus that had come about after the recording of ''Ragged Glory'' (1990) and its subsequent tour (which produced the 1991 albums '' Weld'' and '' Arc''), Young returned to the studio with Ben Keith, picking up the acoustic guitar, piano and banjo that had dominated albums such as ''Harvest'', ''Comes a Time'' and ''Old Ways''. 1970s-era analogue equipment was used instead of digital recording to achieve a "warmer" feel, though the album was in fact recorded on Sony PCM 16/44.1kHz digital. The subsequent 1992 tour was recorded and ultimately released on the 2009 '' Dreamin' Man'' live album, containing Young's solo renditions of all ''Harvest Moon'' tracks in a different order. Reception Music website ''Classic Rock Review'' named ''Harvest Moon'' its album of ...

Harvest Moon (Neil Young Song)
"Harvest Moon" is a song written by Neil Young, and was released as the first single from his 1992 album ''Harvest Moon''. It reached No. 36 on the UK Singles Chart. Background and composition The song uses a moon motif, which Young has mentioned as being very important to him and having quasi-religious undertones. It is a tribute to his wife Pegi Young, and the two are dancing in a bar in the music video. Linda Ronstadt provides the backing vocals. The song is composed in the key of D Major, with Young's vocal range spanning from D3 to F#4. Reception ''Rolling Stone'' ranked "Harvest Moon" in 2014 as the 37th-best Neil Young song of all time. AllMusic's Matthew Greenwald strongly praised the song, stating that the song epitomized the album and "the power of nature and music, as well as a feeling of celebrating lifetime love are the focal points here, and Young captures it all in his typically literate, artless style." Greenwald praised the melody as "positively gorgeous, and it's ...

2Yoon
2Yoon (Hangul: 투윤, commonly stylized as 2YOON) was the first and only sub-group of South Korean girl group 4Minute, formed by Cube Entertainment in 2013. The sub-group consisted of Gayoon and Jiyoon., translated to English at History Gayoon and Jiyoon were the lead singers of 4Minute. Cube Entertainment CEO Hong Seung Sung wanted to pair them in a sub-group after watching the duo perform live at the 2011 United Cube in London. The duo were known to fans collectively as Ssangyoon (Hangul: 쌍윤) (a portmanteau of the Hangul word for "twins" and the last characters of their given name "yoon"). However, as the pronunciation of "Ssangyoon" involves a tensed consonant, it was deemed to be ill-fitting for the group's cute image. As such, the sub-unit was renamed as 2Yoon. In addition, "ssangyoon" could be potentially misheard as a profanity, further supporting the basis for the name change. 2Yoon appeared on MBC's Weekly Idol as Ssangyoon, since the show was recorded befo ...

Heaven Forbid
''Heaven Forbid'' is the thirteenth studio album by American hard rock band Blue Öyster Cult, released on March 24, 1998. It was the band's first studio album with new material in a decade (not counting the 1992 soundtrack to ''Bad Channels''). American science fiction and horror writer John Shirley wrote lyrics to most of the songs on the album. While he is primarily known as an author for his cyberpunk stories, many of the lyrics on this album revolve around early science fiction and mystery motifs. The album's working title was 'Ezekiel's Wheel,' after the Biblical story that some take to reference an early visitation by UFOs. The album's live song "In Thee" was originally featured on ''Mirrors''. "Still Burnin'" is a sequel to the song "Burnin' for You", which appeared on ''Fire of Unknown Origin''. The inspiration for the alternative cover is Morgan Fairchild. This image also appears on the reverse of the insert, and was originally intended to be the front piece as indicat ...

Shine On, Harvest Moon
"Shine On, Harvest Moon" is a popular early-1900s song credited to the married vaudeville team Nora Bayes and Jack Norworth. It was one of a series of moon-related Tin Pan Alley songs of the era. The song was debuted by Bayes and Norworth in the Ziegfeld Follies of 1908 to great acclaim. It became a pop standard, and continues to be performed and recorded in the 21st century. During the vaudeville era, songs were often sold outright, and the purchaser would be credited as the songwriter. John Kenrick's ''Who's Who in Musicals'' credits the song's writers as Edward Madden and Gus Edwards. However, David Ewen's ''All the Years of American Popular Music'' credits Dave Stamper, who contributed songs to 21 editions of the Ziegfeld Follies and was Bayes' pianist from 1903 to 1908. Vaudeville comic Eddie Cantor also credited Stamper in his 1934 book ''Ziegfeld - The Great Glorifier''. The earliest commercially successful recordings were made in 1909 by Harry Macdonough and Elise Steve ...

The Life That I Have
''The Life That I Have'' (sometimes referred to as ''Yours'') is a short poem written by Leo Marks and used as a poem code in the Second World War. In the war, famous poems were used to encrypt messages. This was, however, found to be insecure because enemy cryptanalysts were able to locate the original from published sources. Marks countered this by using his own written creations. ''The Life That I Have'' was an original poem composed on Christmas Eve 1943 and was originally written by Marks in memory of his girlfriend Ruth, who had just died in a plane crash in Canada. On 24 March 1944, the poem was issued by Marks to Violette Szabo, a British agent of Special Operations Executive who was eventually captured, tortured and killed by the Nazis. It was made famous by its inclusion in the 1958 movie about Szabo, '' Carve Her Name with Pride'', where the poem was said to be the creation of Violette's husband Etienne. (Marks allowed it to be used under the condition that its author ...

Mid-Autumn Festival
The Mid-Autumn Festival (Chinese: / ), also known as the Moon Festival or Mooncake Festival, is a traditional festival celebrated in Chinese culture. Similar holidays are celebrated in Japan (), Korea (), Vietnam (), and other countries in East and Southeast Asia. It is one of the most important holidays in Chinese culture; its popularity is on par with that of Chinese New Year. The history of the Mid-Autumn Festival dates back over 3,000 years. The festival is held on the 15th day of the 8th month of the Chinese lunisolar calendar with a full moon at night, corresponding to mid-September to early October of the Gregorian calendar. On this day, the Chinese believe that the Moon is at its brightest and fullest size, coinciding with harvest time in the middle of Autumn. Lanterns of all size and shapes, are carried and displayed – symbolic beacons that light people's path to prosperity and good fortune. Mooncakes, a rich pastry typically filled with sweet-bean, egg yolk, meat ...
