Harry Woods (actor)
Harry Lewis Woods (May 5, 1889 – December 28, 1968) was an American film actor. Born in Cleveland, Ohio, Woods was a millinery salesman prior to becoming an actor. He appeared in nearly 250 films between 1923 and 1958. During his 35-year film career he acquired a reputation as a screen villain ''par excellence''; his imposing size, powerful build, piercing eyes and snarling voice typed him as a bad guy to be reckoned with. He seldom played ordinary henchmen, usually cast as both the brains (the banker or saloon owner who secretly runs the bandit gang terrorizing the area) and the brawn behind the local villainy. He was well respected by his peers. Another prime screen villain, Roy Barcroft, once said of him, "Everything I know about being a bad guy I learned from Harry Woods." He enjoyed a long career in films before retiring in 1958, and he died in Los Angeles ten years later from uremia. Harry Woods (footballer)
Harry Woods (12 March 1890 – 1956) was an English footballer who played as an inside forward. He initially trained as a glass worker whilst playing as an amateur for St Helens Recreation, and then Ashton Town and St Helens Town. In 1911, he joined Norwich City, then in the Southern League, where he played until the outbreak of World War I, making 151 appearances and scoring 37 goals in all competitions. Woods served in the Tank Corps in France during the war, and finally began his Football League career with South Shields, then in the Second Division, in August 1919. After two seasons with the club, during which he scored 24 times in 95 games, which earned him a £2600 move to Newcastle United in January 1922. Woods failed to settle at St James' Park, however, managing just two goals in 16 appearances before he joined Arsenal on 25 August 1923. Harry Francis Woods (born 23 December 1947) was an Australian politician. He was the member for Page, New South Wales in the Australian House of Representatives, representing the Australian Labor Party from the March 1990 general election to his defeat in the March 1996 general election by the National Party's Ian Causley, who was the New Wales South State member for Clarence when he resigned to contest Page. Woods was elected as the Member for Clarence in the New South Wales Legislative Assembly for the Labor Party in May 1996 in the by-election that was triggered by Causley's resignation.
