Harry Ratican
Harry Jay Ratican (January 20, 1894 in St. Louis, Missouri – August 22, 1964 in St. Louis, Missouri) was a U.S. soccer forward, coach and team owner. He began and ended his career in the St. Louis Soccer League with several years in both the National Association Football League and American Soccer League. He is a member of the National Soccer Hall of Fame. Soccer career Club career Ratican, the younger brother of Peter Ratican, grew up in St. Louis, Missouri, attending the Christian Brothers College High School and St. Louis University. On October 19, 1914, Ratican played his first professional match with the Teresas of the St. Louis Soccer Football League scoring a goal after six minutes of play. The next Sunday, Ratican jumped to the Ben Millers (managed by his brother, Pete) of the Federal Park Soccer League scoring two goals in the match. Peter Ratican
Peter Joseph Ratican (April 13, 1887 – November 20, 1922) was an American soccer midfielder who competed in the 1904 Summer Olympics. He was born and died in St. Louis, Missouri. Ratican, older brother to National Soccer Hall of Fame member Harry Ratican, grew up in St. Louis, Missouri where he attended Christian Brothers College. In 1904, St. Louis hosted the 1904 Summer Olympics and CBC entered its men's soccer team into the games. The CBC men took the silver medal, with Ratican playing all four matches as a midfielder. Ratican later played professionally in the St. Louis Soccer League. During the 1909–10 St. Louis Soccer League season, he was with St. Teresa F.C. Quincy Gems
The Quincy Gems are a collegiate summer league baseball team located in Quincy, Illinois. The Gems were originally a part of the Central Illinois Collegiate League and joined the Prospect League with several other CICL teams prior to the 2009 season. The team's original owners, the Quincy Civic Center Authority, sold the Gems to its current owners in September 2014 for $120,000. The Gems currently play in the Prospect League's Western Conference in the Great River Division along with the Burlington Bees, Clinton LumberKings, and Normal CornBelters. Stadium The Gems play at QU Stadium, a 2,500 seat facility owned and operated by Quincy University. The facility was built in 1938 and is located at 1800 Sycamore Street in Quincy.
