Harry Jones (September 29, 1840 – February 23, 1936) was a Welsh-born prospector and political figure in British Columbia. He represented Cariboo from 1903 to 1909 as a Liberal. Born in Bryn Engan, Llangybi, Carnarvon in 1840, he arrived in British Columbia in June 1862, sailing by way of Cape Horn. Jones travelled on foot to the Cariboo country, settling at Lytton. He returned to Wales in 1876 and came back to North America in 1884. General Sir Henry David Jones DCL (14 March 1791 – 4 August 1866) was a British Army officer who became Governor of the Royal Military College, Sandhurst. Life He was the fifth son of John Jones by his wife, Mary, daughter of John Roberts, Esq., of Landguard Fort, an officer 29th Foot, and was brother of Major-General Sir John Thomas Jones, Bart., KCB, and uncle of Sir Willoughby Jones, Bart., of Cranmer Hall, Fakenham, Norfolk. Educated at the Royal Military Academy, Woolwich, Jones was commissioned into the Royal Engineers in September 1808. In 1809 he was involved in the attack on the fortress at Flushing during the Walcheren Campaign. He then took part in the defence of Cadiz in 1809, the Siege of Badajoz in 1812, the Battle of Vitoria in 1813 and the Battle of Nivelle in 1813. Harry Longueville Jones (1806–1870) was a Welsh archæologist, artist, Inspector of Schools for Wales and leading founding member of the Cambrian Archaeological Association. Ancestry and early life Harry Longueville Jones was the great-grandson of Sir Thomas Longueville who died in 1759. The Longuevilles, who came from Wolverton in Buckinghamshire could trace their ancestry back to the Plantagenets. Sir Thomas Longueville had married a Conway of Bodrhyddan Hall and he had come to live at Echlusham Hall Wrexham. His daughter Maria Margretta, the sole heiress of the Longueville estates married Captain Thomas Jones of the Court, Wrexham. After his marriage he changed his name to Thomas Longueville-Jones. Longueville-Jones was killed in a duel in 1799 and buried in Wrexham Church. Harry Thomson Jones (1925 – 5 December 2007), often known as "Tom Jones", was a British racehorse trainer whose career lasted from 1951 to 1996. He was successful in National Hunt racing, training the winners of 12 Cheltenham Festival races before switching to flat racing and going on to train the winners of British Classic Races. He was educated at Eton College and was first licensed as a trainer in 1951. Amongst his notable National Hunt horses were Tingle Creek, winner of 11 races and a specialist at Sandown Park Racecourse, and Frenchman's Cove, winner of the 1962 Whitbread Gold Cup and 1964 King George VI Chase. Harry Edward Jones
Harry Edward Jones (1843 – 24 March 1925) was a British civil engineer. Jones was born the son of gasworks engineer Robert Jones in Chester in 1843 and educated at the City of London School and Stepney Grammar School. In 1859 he was apprenticed to Joseph Hamilton Beattie, the locomotive engineer of the London and South Western Railway, and in 1862 obtained a position at the Harlow Gas Works, Essex. From 1863 to 1869 he was engineer to the Wandsworth Gas Company and then became chief engineer to the Ratcliff Gas Light Company. In 1875, he was joint engineer with his father at the Commercial Gas Co, becoming Chief Engineer in 1880 when his father retired and a Director of the company in 1902.
