Harold Williams (baritone)
Harold John Williams MBE (3 September 18935 June 1976) was an Australian baritone and music teacher. Born in Sydney, he had a career in England and his native country, performing in opera, oratorio and concerts and giving radio broadcasts. Early years Williams was born on 3 September 1893 at Woollahra, a suburb of Sydney, the third child of Owen Williams, a Victorian-born plumber, and his Scottish wife Isabella, née Wylie. Leaving Woollahra Superior Public School at 14, Harold worked as a messenger-boy, then as a railway stores clerk. He sang with the Waverley Methodist Church choir as a boy soprano and later an amateur baritone; but he found that 'football and cricket were the most absorbing affairs of my life'. He played for Waverley Cricket Club (1906–15) and Rugby Union as a wing-three-quarter with the Eastern Suburbs team, representing New South Wales against New Zealand in August 1914.Carmody, John. MFSB, officially standing for "Mother Father Sister Brother", was a pool of more than 30 studio musicians based at Philadelphia's Sigma Sound Studios. They worked closely with the production team of Gamble and Huff and producer/arranger Thom Bell, and backed up Harold Melvin & the Blue Notes, The O'Jays, The Stylistics, the Spinners, Wilson Pickett, and Billy Paul. In 1972, MFSB began recording as a named act for the Philadelphia International label. " TSOP (The Sound of Philadelphia)", also known as the '' Soul Train'' theme, was their second and most successful single. Released in March 1974, it peaked at number one on the US '' Billboard'' pop and R&B charts. "TSOP" was influential in establishing the disco sound. Harold Williams (born August 1, 1970) is an American music video director, film director, film producer, and screenwriter. Early life Williams was born in Queens, New York. He is of mixed African-American and Honduran descent. He attended Adelphi University. He first displayed his work by tagging local billboards, storefronts, and playgrounds using HYPE as his graffiti tag. His graffiti style was influenced by artists like Keith Haring and Jean-Michel Basquiat. His big break came when he began working with Classic Concepts Video Productions. Lionel "Vid Kid" Martin and VJ Ralph McDaniels created Williams' first opportunity with the Filmmakers With Attitude moniker (FWA), which was Williams' first video company. Bishop Harold Ivory Williams (April 20, 1921 - July 4, 2014) was the senior prelate of the Mount Calvary Holy Churches of America Inc. from 1972 - 2009. He was married to the gospel singer Shirley Caesar. Early life Harold I. Williams was born April 20, 1921, in Benton, Maryland and attended the Frederick Douglass High School. He gained his B.A. Degree from Coppin State College, as well as a Master of Divinity and a Doctorate of Ministry from Howard University in Washington, D.C. Harold Whitmore Williams (6 April 1876 – 18 November 1928) was a New Zealand journalist, foreign editor of ''The Times'' and polyglot who is considered to have been one of the most accomplished polyglots in history. He is said to have known over 58 languages, including English. He "proved to know every language of the Austrian Empire", Hungarian, Czech, Albanian, Serbian, Romanian, Swedish, Basque, Turkish, Mandarin Chinese, Japanese, Tagalog, Coptic, Egyptian, Hittite, Old Irish, and other dialects. Sir Harold Herbert Williams (25 July 1880 – 24 October 1964) was an English scholar, priest, lawyer, politician, bibliophile, and expert on the works of Jonathan Swift. Williams born in Tokyo, the son of Rev. James Williams, an Anglican missionary in Japan, and Mary Ann Hodson Grindrod. He returned to England to attend Liverpool College and Christ's College, Cambridge (1904). He won the undergraduate Carus Prize for Greek Testament scholarship in 1901. Ordained in 1904, he held several posts before resigning as a priest in 1909. Williams served as a captain in the Royal Army Service Corps 1914–19. In 1920, he was called to the Bar (Inner Temple). He resided in Buntingford, Hertfordshire and served as a Justice of the Peace and chairman of the Hertfordshire County council (1947–50). Lieutenant-General Sir Harold Williams (1 June 1897 – 17 October 1971) was an Irish-born British Army officer, engineer and mountaineer. He also became charter president of Rotary club Roorkee in 1959. Early life Williams was born in County Cork and educated at Mountjoy School and Trinity College, Dublin. Military career He attended the Royal Military Academy, Woolwich and commissioned into the Royal Engineers on 28 September 1917. He was posted to India where he joined the 51st (Field) Company, Bengal Sappers and Miners. He served with the unit as part of the Aden Field Force after which he spent three years in Roorkee, first as Company Officer and finally as Assistant Adjutant and Quartermaster, Bengal Sappers and Miners.
