Harold Keetley
Harold "Harry" Keetley (9 April 1903-4Q 1982) was an English footballer who played as a forward. He was born in Derby one of eleven brothers and one sister. Like eight of his brothers he started off playing for the local amateur Victoria Ironworks team. He and five of his brothers, Arthur, Joe, Tom, Frank and Charlie, went on to play professionally in the Football League. Charlie Keetley
Frederick Charles "Charlie" "Wag" Keetley (10 March 1906 — 1979) was an English football centre forward born in Derby. He played for Leeds United, Bradford City and Reading. Keetley was the youngest of eleven brothers and one sister. Several of his brothers played professionally including Arthur, Harry, Tom, Frank and Joe. He began working at Rolls-Royce Foundry in Derby as a core maker. In 1926–27, he was playing for Alvaston and Boulton where he scored 80 goals. Charlie was signed for Leeds United in June 1927 by Dick Ray, who had previous signed his 4 brothers for Doncaster Rovers. During the 1927–28 season Keetley scored 18 goals in just 16 games. He went on to be the club's top goal-scorer in three seasons—in 1928–29, 1930–31 and 1931–32. Belle Vue was a football stadium in Doncaster, South Yorkshire, England, that served as the home ground of Doncaster Rovers from 1922 to 2007. The ground was renowned for having the biggest pitch in the United Kingdom, at long, and wide. In addition to the size of the pitch, it was considered to have one of the best playing surfaces due to the fertile soil, providing a perfect pitch. The English Football League (EFL) is a league of professional football clubs from England and Wales. Founded in 1888 as the Football League, the league is the oldest such competition in the world. It was the top-level football league in England from its foundation until 1992, when the top 22 clubs split from it to form the Premier League. Frank Keetley (23 March 1901 – 13 January 1968) was an English footballer who played inside forward. One of eleven brothers and one sister, he was born in Derby and came from a footballing family with several other brothers who played professionally including Arthur, Harry, Tom, Joe and Charlie. Playing career In February 1921, Frank moved from Victoria Ironworks to Derby County, making his debut on 1 October 1921 in a 3–0 defeat away at Nottingham Forest. In total he turned out 82 times for Derby, scoring 8 goals. Keetley played professionally for Derby County, Doncaster Rovers, Bradford City, Lincoln City and Hull City between 1921 and 1933, making a total of 256 Football League appearances. Tom Keetley
Tom Keetley (16 November 1898 – 18 August 1958) was an English professional footballer who played as a centre forward. He scored 284 Football League goals between 1919 and 1934. Life and career One of eleven brothers and one sister, he was born in Derby and came from a footballing family with several other brothers who played professionally including Arthur, Harry, Joe, Frank and Charlie. The first Football League side he played for was Bradford Park Avenue, and he first played in the league for them in 1919–20, going on to make 22 league appearances for them over a four-season period. In 1923–24 he first played league football for Doncaster Rovers, a club which three of his brothers (Harry, Joe and Frank) played for in their careers. Joseph Frederick Keetley (28 June 1897 – 30 March 1958), also known as Jack Keetley, was an English footballer who played as a forward. He was born in Derby and has ten brothers and has one sister. Like eight of his brothers, he started off playing for the local amateur Victoria Ironworks team. He and five of his brothers, Arthur, Harry, Tom, Frank and Charlie, went on to play professionally in the Football League. Playing career After playing non-League football for Graham Street Prims, Joe moved to play professionally at Bolton Wanderers, then for Accrington Stanley where he managed 8 goals in 13 appearances which gained interest from Liverpool who signed him on 7 November 1923 on an 18-month contract, paying a transfer fee of £1200.
