Harold Ferguson High School
Ferguson High School (FHS), also known as Ferguson Alternative High School, is an alternative high school in Loveland, Colorado. A part of the Thompson School District, FHS normally serves 120 - 140 students. FHS is one of the oldest alternative, at-risk programs in the State of Colorado. History The idea for FHS came from Mr. Ferguson, then the Principal of Loveland High School, He realized that there was a need for many Loveland students to have an alternative choice. In particular, Ferguson was concerned about students with trouble at home, legal problems, or difficulty coping with a large school. The school opened in 1972 as "The New School" located at 125 S. Lincoln Ave, a small structure owned by the school district and located across the street from the former school district administrative offices. Alternative High School
Alternative High School (AHS) is a public senior high (secondary) school in Calgary, Alberta, Canada; which teaches grades 10 through 12. AHS is currently located at the Clinton Ford Centre, which was home to the former Clinton Ford Elementary School. AHS was launched, independent of the board, in September 1974 by a parents group. It reflected many of the "alternative education" ideas that were popular at the time. The early philosophy the school borrowed from the ideas of A. S. Neill, who founded Summerhill School. Loveland High School is a public high school located in Loveland, Colorado, United States. It is one of the five high schools in the Thompson R2-J School District. Founded more than one hundred years ago, it is the oldest high school in the district. The first class of graduates left the institution in 1894, and the most recent location was opened in 1964. Before then the school was located in downtown Loveland where Bill Reed Middle School is located.
