Haramsøya
Haramsøya is an island in Ålesund Municipality in Møre og Romsdal county, Norway. The island is located between the islands of Lepsøya and Flemsøya, just northwest of the mainland. The village of Austnes is located on the southeast part of the island, and that is the location of Haram Church. The Ulla lighthouse is located on the north end of the island. The population (2015) of the island is 571. The island is connected to the mainland via a car ferry to the mainland and to the neighboring island of Lepsøya. The Ullasund Bridge connects the island to the other neighboring island of Flemsøya to the north. The Nordøyvegen bridge and tunnel project connects the island of Haramsøya to the mainland and its neighboring islands, having been completed in 2022. Nordøyvegen
Nordøyvegen () is a road that connect the northern islands of Ålesund (formerly in Haram Municipality and Sandøy Municipality) to the mainland in Møre og Romsdal county, Norway. This road was opened in 2022 and replaced several ferry crossings and costed around . It provides a faster, ferry-free connection to the mainland for the approximately 3,000 residents of the islands. The road is partly financed by a toll station at the Lepsøy, as of 2022 costing 219 NOK per direction for cars. The project includes crossing four fjords with tunnels and bridges and upgrading and re-routing roads on the islands to meet national standards. A total of seven islands is connected to the mainland using two existing bridges and by building three new bridges, a causeway using fill, and three undersea tunnels. Lepsøya
Lepsøya (or ''Løvsøya'') is a populated island in Ålesund Municipality in Møre og Romsdal county, Norway. The island in the northern part of the municipality. It is located in the ocean in the northwestern part of the municipality, with the Haramsfjorden and the island of Haramsøya to the northeast; the Vigrafjorden and the island of Vigra (in Giske Municipality) to the southwest; and the islands of Bjørnøya and Terøya along with the mainland to the southeast. In 2015, the population of the island was 313. Most of the population lives on the southeastern side of the island. The island is connected to the mainland and to the village of Austnes on Haramsøya island via a car ferry. Flemsøya
Flemsøya or Skuløya is an island in Ålesund Municipality in Møre og Romsdal county, Norway. The island is located between the islands of Haramsøya and Fjørtofta. The island is connected to the neighboring island of Haramsøya by the Ullasund Bridge. The population (2015) of the island was 503. The eastern and southern coastline is flat, the rest of the island is mountainous. The highest point, ''Skulen'', is tall. The village of Longva is located on the west side of the island, along the Longvafjorden. Haram Church
Haram Church ( no, Haram kyrkje) is a parish church of the Church of Norway in Ålesund Municipality in Møre og Romsdal county, Norway. It is located in the village of Austnes on the island of Haramsøya. It is one of the churches for the ''Haram og Fjørtoft'' parish which is part of the Nordre Sunnmøre prosti ( deanery) in the Diocese of Møre. The white, wooden church was built in an octagonal design in 1838 using plans drawn up by the parish priest Peder Thomas Buschmann. The church seats about 240 people. History The earliest existing historical records of the church date back to 1432, but it was not new at that time. The first Haram Church was a wooden stave church that was located on the west coast of the island of Haramsøya, about northwest of the present church site. Ullasund Bridge
The Ullasund Bridge ( no, Ullasundbrua) is a bridge that crosses the Ullasundet strait between the islands of Haramsøya and Flemsøya in Ålesund Municipality in Møre og Romsdal county, Norway. The original bridge was opened in 1969. The Ulla lighthouse is located just northwest of the eastern end of the bridge. Many bridges need to be repaired because the salt in the seawater damages the concrete and the iron inside it. The old Ullasund Bridge actually had to be taken down, because it was too damaged. It was taken down in 1998, after just 29 years in service. It has been replaced with a new bridge.
