Hanuman
Hanuman (; sa, हनुमान, ), also called Anjaneya (), is a Hindu god and a divine '' vanara'' companion of the god Rama. Hanuman is one of the central characters of the Hindu epic ''Ramayana''. He is an ardent devotee of Rama and one of the Chiranjivis. Hanuman is regarded to be the son of the wind-god Vayu, who in several stories played a direct role in Hanuman's birth, and considered to be an incarnation or son of Shiva in Shaivism. Hanuman is mentioned in several other texts, such as the epic ''Mahabharata'' and the various Puranas. Evidence of devotional worship to Hanuman is largely absent in these texts, as well as in most archeological sites. Hanuman Chalisa
The ''Hanuman Chalisa'' (; '' Forty chaupais on Hanuman'') is a Hindu devotional hymn (''stotra'') in praise of Hanuman.Rambhadradas 1984pp. 1–8./ref> It was authored by Tulsidas in the Awadhi language, and is his best known text apart from the ''Ramcharitmanas''. Apart from Awadhi, the ''Hanuman Chalisa'' is also available in various languages including Sanskrit, Kannada, Marathi, Telugu, Tamil, Gujarati and Bengali. The word "chālīsā" is derived from "chālīs", which means the number forty in Hindi, as the ''Hanuman Chalisa'' has 40 verses (excluding the couplets at the beginning and at the end). Ramayana
The ''Rāmāyana'' (; sa, रामायणम्, ) is a Sanskrit literature, Sanskrit Indian epic poetry, epic composed over a period of nearly a millennium, with scholars' estimates for the earliest stage of the text ranging from the 8th to 4th centuries BCE, and later stages extending up to the 3rd century CE. ''Ramayana'' is one of the two important epics of Hinduism, the other being the ''Mahabharata, Mahābhārata''. Hanuman Jayanti
Hanuman Jayanti () is a Hindu festival that celebrates the birth of the Hindu deity, and one of the protagonists of the Ramayana, Hanuman. In most states of India, the festival is observed on the full-moon day of the Hindu month of Chaitra (Chaitra Purnima). In Karnataka, Hanuman Jayanti is observed on Shukla Paksha Trayodashi, during the Margashirsha month or in Vaishakha, while in a few states like Kerala and Tamil Nadu, it is celebrated during the month of Dhanu (called '' Margali'' in Tamil). Hanuman is regarded to be an ardent devotee of Rama, an incarnation of Vishnu, widely known for his unflinching devotion. Añjanā
Anjana (), also known as Anjani and Anjali, is the mother of Hanuman, one of the protagonists of the Hindu epic, the ''Ramayana''. She is said to have been a resident of Kishkindha in the text. Legend According to a version of the legend, Anjana was an apsara named Punjikastala, who was born on earth as a vanara princess due to the curse of a sage. Anjana was married to Kesari, a vanara chief, and the son of Brihaspati. Anjana was the mother of Hanuman. Being Anjana's son, Hanuman is also called ''Anjaneya'' or ''Anjanayar'' in the Tamil tradition''.'' There are several legends about the birth of Hanuman. Eknath's ''Bhavartha Ramayana'' (16th century CE) states that when Anjana was worshipping Vayu, King Dasharatha of Ayodhya was performing the ritual of Putrakameshti yagna in order to bear children.
