Hansda Sowvendra Shekhar
Hansda Sowvendra Shekhar (born 1983) is an Indian writer. Life Ethnically, Shekhar is a Santal people, Santhal, one of India's Adivasi groups; this background is reflected in his fiction. His stories are rich in "fine details that add to the deep dimensions" and "open to us a world we have deliberately dismissed" and contain "a surplus of understanding that comes from a kind insider-outsider." Indeed, he characterised his first novel as "the first full-fledged Santhal novel written in English, and published by a mainstream publisher." Born in Ranchi, Shekhar grew up in Ghatshila and Chakulia and went to school in Musabani. His parents used to work with Hindustan Copper in Ghatshila. By profession, he is a medical doctor and is employed as a medical officer with the government of Jharkhand, based in 2017 in Pakur. Santal People
The Santal or Santhal are an Austroasiatic speaking Munda ethnic group in South Asia. Santals are the largest tribe in the Jharkhand and West Bengal state of India in terms of population and are also found in the states of Odisha, Bihar and Assam. They are the largest ethnic minority in northern Bangladesh's Rajshahi Division and Rangpur Division. They have a sizeable population in Nepal. The Santals speak Santali, the most widely spoken Munda languages of Austro-asiatic language family. Etymology Santal is most likely derived from an exonym. Jamia Millia Islamia () is a central university located in New Delhi, India. Originally established at Aligarh, United Provinces (present-day Uttar Pradesh, India) during the British Raj in 1920, it moved to its current location in Okhla in 1935. It was given the deemed status by University Grants Commission in 1962. On 26 December 1988, it became a central university. The foundation committee of the university included Abdul Bari Firangi Mahali, Hussain Ahmad Madani, Muhammad Iqbal, Sanaullah Amritsari, Syed Mehmood and others. JCB Prize for Literature is an Indian literary award established in 2018. It is awarded annually with prize to a distinguished work of fiction by an Indian writer working in English or translated fiction by an Indian writer. The winners will be announced each November with shortlists in October and longlists in September. It has been called ''"India's most valuable literature prize"''.
