Hans Kruse
Hans Edward Kruse ''OS'' (6 January 1930 – 2 October 2021) was a Samoan civil servant, actor, and rugby player. Kruse was from Asau on Savai'i. He was educated at Marist Brothers Primary School in Mulivai, Sacred Heart College, Auckland, and Thailand University. As a young man he acted in the films '' Return to Paradise'' and ''Pacific Destiny''. In 1953 he married Moana Meredith. It is the capital village of the Vaisigano political district and serves as the main business centre at the west end of the island. Samoa Breweries is the main brewer in Samoa, established in 1978. It brews a German type lager beer, called Vailima (beer), Vailima after a village in Samoa. Samoa Breweries also brewed San Miguel Beer, San Miguel under licence from 1982 to 1990. In 1999 a majority stake in the company (68.3%) was purchased by the Paradise Beverages, Carlton Brewery of Fiji, a subsidiary of the Foster's Group, the remaining shares were held by the Samoan government (15%), the Nauruan government (10%) and the remainder by small shareholders. In 2011 Foster's was acquired by SABMiller which subsequently sold its Fiji and Samoa operations to Coca-Cola Amatil. The 1963 South Pacific Games, held from 29 August to 9 September 1963 at Suva in Fiji, was the first edition of the South Pacific Games.
