Hans G. Kresse
Hans G. Kresse (Amsterdam, 3 December 1921–Doorwerth, 12 March 1992) was a Dutch cartoonist. He was the winner of the 1976 Stripschapprijs. Biography Hans G. Kresse, born in the Netherlands in 1921, started his career as a comics artist in 1938 in the scouting magazine ''De Verkenner''. He joined the Marten Toonder, Toonder Studios in 1944, where he worked on a variety of comics, starting with the typical Toonder-style animal comic ''Robby'', but soon changing to the first of Kresse's realistic works like ''De Gouden Dolk'' (1946). It was in this historical realistic style that he would continue to work for the remainder of his career. In the 1950s, he was also active as an illustrator for ''Donald Duck (Dutch comic book), Donald Duck'' written by Dick Dreux. The same year, he created his magnum opus, the Viking series ''Eric de Noorman''. Zorro
Zorro (Spanish language, Spanish for 'fox') is a fictional character created in 1919 by American pulp magazine, pulp writer Johnston McCulley, appearing in works set in the Pueblo of Los Angeles in Alta California. He is typically portrayed as a dashing masked vigilante who defends the commoners and indigenous peoples of California against corrupt and tyrannical officials and other villains. His signature all-black costume includes a cape, a hat known as a , and a mask covering the upper half of his face. Dick Dreux
Dirk Johannes Hendrik "Dick" Dreux (27 May 1913 – 6 December 1978) was a Dutch writer of historical literature. Biography Dick Dreux was born in Amsterdam as a child of Hendrik Johannes Wilhelm Dreux and Cornelia Hendrika Johanna Lucke who divorced in 1921. He grew up with his grandparents from his mother's side. He attended the Hogere Burger School and in 1929, at age 16, joined the merchant navy. His adventurous life led him around the world and finally to Spain, where he fought against Franco's fascists in the Spanish Civil War. He returned to the Netherlands just before the start of World War II in order to fulfill his military duty and keep his Dutch citizenship. He was interned in Amersfoort concentration camp, and then labored in a work camp on the German island of Borkum. After the end of the war, he became an author, writing historical literature from a critical point of view, many of it published by the Arbeiderspers, then a socialist publishing house.
