Karel Van Mander
Karel van Mander (I) or Carel van Mander I (May 1548 – 2 September 1606) was a Flemish painter, poet, art historian and art theoretician, who established himself in the Dutch Republic in the latter part of his life. He is mainly remembered as a biographer of Early Netherlandish painters and Northern Renaissance artists in his ''Schilder-boeck''. Hans Rottenhammer
Johann Rottenhammer, or Hans Rottenhammer (1564 – 14 August 1625), was a German painter. He specialized in highly finished paintings on a small scale. Biography He was born in Munich, where he studied until 1588 under Hans Donauer the Elder. In 1593-4 (and perhaps earlier) he was in Rome, and he then settled in Venice from 1595-6 to 1606, before returning to Germany and settling in Augsburg, working also in Munich. He died in Augsburg, apparently in some poverty, and according to some sources an alcoholic. Work In Venice he gained a reputation for small highly finished cabinet paintings on copper, of religious and mythological subjects, combining German and Italian elements of style. In particular he combines the landscape tradition of the North with the compositional and figure styles of Tintoretto and Veronese. Digital Library For Dutch Literature
The Digital Library for Dutch Literature (Dutch: Digitale Bibliotheek voor de Nederlandse Letteren or DBNL) is a website (showing the abbreviation as dbnl) about Dutch language and Dutch literature. It contains thousands of literary texts, secondary literature and additional information, like biographies, portrayals etcetera, and hyperlinks. The DBNL is an initiative by the DBNL foundation that was founded in 1999 by the Society of Dutch Literature (Dutch: Maatschappij der Nederlandse Letterkunde). Building of the DNBL was made possible by donations, among others, from the Dutch Organization for Scientific Research (Dutch: Nederlandse Organisatie voor Wetenschappelijk Onderzoek or NWO) and the Nederlandse Taalunie. From 2008 to 2012, the editor was René van Stipriaan. The work is done by eight people in Leiden (as of 2013: The Hague), 20 students, and 50 people in the Philippines who scan and type the texts. Kaspar Amort
Kaspar Amort (1612 – 7 March 1675) was a German painter, active in Munich. He is sometimes known as Kaspar Amort the Elder, to distinguish him from his son Kaspar Amort the Younger (born c. 1640). Life Amort was born in 1612 in the valley of the Jachenau. He went to Munich in 1631, where he studied art under Johann Donauer. He then paid a visit to Italy, where the works of Caravaggio had a great impact on his style. In 1642, following his return to Munich he was made court painter, and executed numerous works for the ''Residenz'' and for churches and monastic buildings, including an altarpiece (c.1655), showing the martyrdom of St Ursula and her companions, for the parish church of St Sylvester in Schwabing Schwabing is a borough in the northern part of Munich, the capital of the German state of Bavaria.
