''Hannibal'' is an American psychological horror- thriller television series developed by Bryan Fuller for NBC. The series is based on characters and elements appearing in Thomas Harris' novels '' Red Dragon'' (1981), ''Hannibal'' (1999), and ''Hannibal Rising'' (2006) and focuses on the relationship between FBI special investigator Will Graham (Hugh Dancy) and Dr. Hannibal Lecter ( Mads Mikkelsen), a forensic psychiatrist destined to become Graham's most cunning enemy and at the same time, the only person who can understand him. The series received a 13-episode order for its first season. David Slade executive produced and directed the first episode. The series premiered on NBC on April 4, 2013. On May 9, 2014, NBC renewed ''Hannibal'' for a third season, which premiered on June 4, 2015. On June 22, 2015, NBC canceled ''Hannibal'' after three seasons because of low viewership. Brian Reitzell (born December 24, 1965) is an American musician, composer, record producer and music supervisor best known for his work on many film and TV soundtracks. He is notable for working extensively with the American film director Sofia Coppola (''The Virgin Suicides'', '' Lost in Translation'', '' Marie Antoinette'', ''The Bling Ring''). He was formerly the drummer for the LA punk band Redd Kross.
